Question Which EBMM bass and why?

Over the past few years I've been searching for the right bass. I've tried and owned among others, American Fenders, Music Mans, Warwicks, Ibanez, Yamaha and even a US Lakland. Yet I always seem to gravitate back to the EBMM family of basses. In particular I happen to think the Bongo bass it simply the best sounding bass for my purposes. Its really just a great bass sound regardless of the pickup configuration...although I am a little partial to the single H myself. I find the bongo has the perfect balanced tone i want and the mids that really cut through. Love the 18v power! I am really blown away with the bongos! I love the stingrays and even though the classic rays aren't my ideal bass...I would still own one above those other mentioned brands. So I'm a bongo guy. What are you and why??

I'm yet to play a Music Man bass that I don't like but I am very partial to the Bongo. Absolutely love them. My only critique on them is I don't like painted necks but the painted necks on these are pretty cool and unique so even though I don't care for painted neck basses, I'm kind of okay with the Bongo ones.
 
Judging by which basses I have owned the longest: Big Al and Bongo, maybe a Sterling too. I like the skinny necks.
 
I've only owned 2 EBMMs.
A Sterling, which I no longer have, as I didn't really get on with it's tone.
And a 2001, Honeyburst 3EQ Stingray, which I absoloutely love. It's got the best neck and a tone that just works.
I'm so happy with it, I'm hoping to score a trans teal 'Ray, today.
Always fancied a Big Al but have never played one, yet.
 
When I was 16 - I've been listening a cd live show of some band used SR5. The sound of Stingray (ceramic probably) just changed my life. So I've decided to grow up, make some money and get my dream bass :)
 
Sterling HS or HH... the 5 position switch with 4 in series & 1 in parellel is CRAZY versatile but easy to manage
 
My SR5 single H. Hands down the BEST sounding bass I've ever owned, and will go to the grave with me. I can't tell you how many times I get compliments from my own band members about how well it sounds during a gig. It's just simply the best.
 
With you 100% on the SR5, John. My HS kills. Every time we soundcheck, our drummer just smiles. 'Nuff said.
 
I'm also on board with my Stingray 5 HS. It's the ceramic version, but the more important thing is VARIETY. There are so many great tones just using the 5 way switch. The SR5HH doesn't have that, and neither does the SR5H. The single coil gives that much more variety.
 
The Stingray is my numero uno. The neck is a perfect fit for my hand and the tone is simply second to none. The fact that they're cool as hell is just an extra bonus!!
 
Well, for me, it has to be the Bongo by default - it's presently the only one that comes in a 6 string version.
In a damn close 2nd though is the Sterling. I love love love my HH. It may be going out the door though since a 5 string Bongo is on its way... we'll have to see when that time comes.
 
Old timer here and bumping this up but the Bongo is to go to bass for me totally and all I own are single H models.

Usually play a 5 stringer but the 6 string Bongo H sounds so good and is fun to play. I like the sound of the Bongo 6H with the flats recorded better than the 5 but the flats on my 5 stringer are almost as old as the bass is. I need to loan the 5 stringer out to someone that enjoys eating chicken to rejuvenate the flats on it.

TK is right... Single H Bongo is the way to go. Just think, BP owns the company, can have any bass he likes and still plays a Single H. JOSH
 
I just wish I could have the MM I would like. Stingray body. Ebony board. 5-string but classic round pickguard. HH. My Bongo isn't bad but the bridge pickup is in the wrong place and of course you can't have non-solid colors on the back of the neck.
 
No surprise to see so many different opinions! I've loved every EBMM model I've played. But my Bongo 5HH is the best of the bunch.
