Okay, a very quick question - which of the EBMM will give me a single coil 'vintage' Strat tone?
The single coil tones of the Silo Special are also right up your street. I seem to remember BP saying the pickups for the Silo Special were deliberately chosen to be more 'vintage'. Even on the HSS models, the humbucker is a classic vintage style choice. If you don't mind HSS don't rule out the Luke either - great single coil clean tones and incredibly versatile. But yes, the Silo Special and the Albert Lee are your most 'vintage strat' choices.
While the Luke sounds great, I wouldn't put the EMG sound in the "vintage" category. Jmho.
But if you want all the 60 cycle hum, you'll have to pull the silent circuit battery.![]()
I'd say if you want a strat sound, buy a strat. EBs sound like EBs, which is a good. That's why I at EB guitars. Single coils have a similar sound but can still sound very different. Definitely check out the guitars mentioned above. They are an amazing alternative to a strat.
