Hey Ballers,

S'been a while! I had a JP a number of years ago, but even though I loved everything else about the guitar I could not get along with the skinny neck. Which JPs have thicker necks that I might get along with a bit better?

Thanks!

Hi Groove - unfortunately there does not seem to be any difference in neck thickness among all the different JP models... other than the ever so slight variations that occur during manufacturing/finishing. I have had my hands on at least 25+ different ones, from the early originals through a Majesty, and that is my experience. I wish there were some options, as my preferences have shifted to a slightly more substantial neck over the years.

Booo! Alright, thanks gents. Maybe a Silo with different pickups is what I'm looking for then. I have a Y2D Morse that's OK, really like the feel, but miss the trem, and the pickups aren't quite right for me. I've had 2x Luke IIs, and the necks were too small for me on both and the SLV EMGs were too thick and didn't quack in position 4. I appreciate the tips!

A Morse with a Floyd Rose is what you need.

Floyd’s are worth the effort. String changes are no big deal when you get a system down. I bought a plate that keeps the tremolo parallel with the body for string changes. Once the strings are stretched the Floyd Rose will not go out of tune very much and the fine tuners are fantastic.

If you prefer the Music Man tremolo I would recommend an Axis Super Sport.

I second this. I gotta SMY2D with a floyd and it is constantly my go-to guitar of my MM selection.
