To me, the Bongo (HH in my case) and my Stingray 5 bfr rosewood neck (also HH) share that. Both cann get really smooth, thick and thumpy with the Stingray sounding a little more open when only using the neckbucker.

sub bass ..big fat badd a$$ bass ..I want to buy a stingray but
cant justify the price for the same bass but prettier. I thought
I wanted a sterling...NOPE..

Strooth !

The poplar body sets the SUB apart from all other Rays. It's
a warmer, less biting tone .... definitely the "Ray-of-Choice"
for those who say "NOPE" [in all-caps] to Sterlings :)

If for some quirky reason one does NOT want a SUB, choice
a PU config is at least as important as choosing which model
of EBMM bass you want. The neck PU will warm things way
up, whether it's an HH or SC config.
