Here is my question:
Of all your EBMMs (or pre EBs)...which bass gets the most play time...and why!?

Me, I practice my fretless the most, but for gigs/rehearsals it's the SR5 HH!
Because I can't play the FT in tune (ARRGH), and the SR5 sits so nice in the mix.

This is the one I always seem to grab when I go record or play a show. It's actually the one I play least at home/by myself but in a band context it just sits right in the perfect spot in the mix....I can't help but take it with me every time :)

My Blue Pearl Sterling H. It has the best feeling neck, the best tone, and the lightest weight. It's my #1.

I can't pick just one... but I can narrow it down to two... :D

At home, mostly the '76 fretless SR4 (which gets gigged every now and then). For general gigging, the black fretted workhorse SR4 gets most air time, but now I'm back in Australia and reunited with the rest of the herd, the Bongo HH and the 30th Anniversary SR4 will share most of the work.

The black SR4 feels like an old pair of boots to me, something I'll be comfortable with in any situation, even if she's dinged and dirty. That said, she is leaving home soon as the herd gets thinned, as she's the third wheel next to the Bongo and the 30th.

I know the feeling!

I love the tone of my Bongo (HSp) and find myself reaching for it when playing alone in my music room. Unfortunately after hearing a recording of my playing it in a live situation, I can no longer bear to reach for it when anyone is listening! :p

My Sterling is my first EBMM and my main player - it's neck is perfect in my hands and having been previously "pimped" by Jon, I do not seeing this one ever going away!

My '02 Burnt Apple EBMM Stingray is my main work horse with the rock band. Gigged so often at those sweaty clubs...well, it is nice and worn in and I can't get any other Stingray to sound like it in the mix, it sings to me, :p

As of lately when i'm just playin' around the house, my buttercream fretless is my go to bass.

Now for gigs, it's 50 - 50 between my HH SR5 and my H SR5.

I love them all but my single H SR5 still is the best to my ears.

Of my Music Mans, my '81 StingRay gets played the most. The neck with it's rounded fretboard edge profile is the most comfortable I've ever played, and at only 9.2 lbs is a joy to wear all night.

edited to add pic of my old Ray, while the Sabre waits it's turn in the set

My Stealth bongo HH and LE Bongo H get the most play. I use the Stealth in E tuning and the LE in D tuning in my band. We practice two to three times a week and play every weekend....so, obviously, they get the most work...

Which brings up this...I had a real bad battle scar on the LE this past weekend. Knocked off a knob and bent the other three. Put a gouge in the paint job the size of a dime just about....but, these things are weapons and she hung in there for the remainder of the show and still slayed! My suggestion...don't get into a mosh pit while playing your bongo if you don't want it to get hurt.....

When I'm just hanging around the house or teaching lessons I usually grab the Bongo 5 HHp. It's the one I've had the longest and it just seems to get better with age. When I gig I'll switch back and forth between the HHp and the single H. I use the fretless on a few tunes with the blues trio and when I'm playing Jazz gigs.

My '83 Tobacco Burst. It's on the light side, an awesome player and feels super broken in. It's a little rough around the edges with dings and such. Someone painted the control knobs black. But I just love this bass.

My 30th is a close second. I tend to play it more at home, and take the '83 out more.

I will probably need to revise this a couple of months after I get my DD Bongo.

For me it's about 50-50. At home it's the teal one cause it sits on a stand on display. The sunburst is in its case. At practice and on gigs it's the sunburst. It's slightly lighter and the frets are in better condition than the teal.

At home it is either the trans red 2 band or the 5 string black Stingray. Out at a show, it is whatever I feel like that night.

My '92. Played-in feel, < 9lbs, great resonance & tone, and I've
grown very fond of the finished neck.
White-trans is a great, great color too . .
