I had a JPXI7 for a while and couldn't quite bond with it. I loved the stainless frets and ebony fretboard but the 20" radius and super thin neck profile bugged me. I have rheumatoid arthritis so thin flat necks really hurt my hand. Which version of the Petrucci seven stringers have the fattest/thickest neck profile? Standard JP7? JP13? Need some advice from people that have had in hand experience with them.

You probably want to stick to a standard JP7 or BFR since those have the smaller and rounder radius. Avoid the XI,12, and 13.

the 13's neck is SUPER flat and wide (radius is only 17" though). I feel like I cut my hand on the neck every time I take it out of the case or carry it by the neck lol. Regardless, it's the best guitar I've ever played and I love it to death.

The Majesty might be right up your alley. Same radius, same ebony and SS frets as the XI, but neck is a hair fatter (I think) and it's overall very comfy.

Might even look into the SBMM JPs. Their necks are nowhere near as thin as EBMM, though you sacrifice a lot by going that route...

I have a BFR and a JP12, and although the 12 is noticeably flatter, they have a very similar feel. Not sure that would solve your problem.... Maybe it will. Just my .02.

The original neck profile is probably your best bet of all of them. The Majesty is probably a close second in terms of thickness.

Thanks guys, I assumed the standard JP7 would be the way to go. I'm a simple dude: I don't need piezo, I have a set of BKP Juggernauts that I love to go into whatever I get, and I actually like the tone of Basswood bodies with trems. Though, maple fretboards are a close second to ebony for my favorite fretboard material, so I may just have to track down a Neptune Blue PDN JP7!

I do the same thing with my JP13's body (and neck). I feel like I'm rubbing curves of a luxury car. It's a spiritual experience. No one around me understands lol.
