Of those who have been fortunate to get MM guitars over the years, who has kept their first guitar that they started playing on?

I ask because I figure most people have an attachment to that first one they cut their fingers on, as do I, but its a warped out Squier that will never be played again, and frankly I don't have a lot of room to have extra guitars hanging around. I have one MM guitar and that's the only one I play now, until I get another MM guitar. :)

But what's your opinion on this?

I have kept the first one. An "Charvette by Charvel" from around 1990/1991. I never play it but store it in cellar.

Mine was my dad's old 50's Supro archtop. Still have it, it's in pieces. One day I'll have it rebuilt. Never be worth much but for nostalgic purposes, and at its best it was barely playable.

My first electric was one I built myself. Local shop (The 12th Fret) used to have a build-your-own-guitar course, so I went down nights after school with my dad and worked on it for months. Did everything from gluing/cutting the body to fretwork (everything but applying the finish). I've been through a few different necks on it, couple of bridges, many p'ups and tons of gigs, but I've still got it. My dad died a few years later, and it still reminds me of him. It'll never go anywhere.

I took apart my $80 Sears special in 7th grade shop class and made myself a LP styled body.

I correctly did all the measurements, routing etc. and the thing actually worked & played!

It never occurred to me back then about becoming a luthier for a living.

My first guitar was cheapy Hondo Strat copy, traded for an Ibanez ST50, gone as well.

My first EBMM was my Fuchsia Sparkle Silo Special.

my first guitar was a 56-57 Gibby les paul junior... my grandfather gave it to me and i still have it. Never play it... and could never think of parting with that one. Just in a case with strings and in tune to make sure the neck doesn't warp.

Got the one that I learned my first notes on and the first actual one I owned. The first I played is my grandfather's old hollowbody Kay. It's in rough shape, but still somewhat playable. The first one of my own is a Memphis electric -- not the brand that's semi-valuable, but a plywood deal with a fine roseplastic fingerboard and a locking tremelo that's also string-through. Still playable, though I can't see anyone wanting to, but it went through a lot of use and abuse and survived, so I keep it around in the closet.

None of them, not even the better ones in the collection, really get any love anymore except for the Axis, though. Which reminds me, I should update my sig because they're not all with me anymore.

I have never gotten rid of a guitar. My first was a student sized nylon string acoustic...which is still in my living room.

I don't still have my first (a 67 Guild Blonde T-50) but I do have my 2nd, a 69 Guild Studio 302. Predates Musicman...even Leo owned Musicman.

I could not even name the first 5 electrics I owned as they were all hobby shop knock offs.My 12 year old thinks he has the greatest herd of guitars on the planet, when I hear him tell his friends on the phone what guitars he owns.lol But I have to bring him down to Earth and tell him as of now he owns nothing and is lucky to play my Axis, and that if his Father did not play he would have a Squire like his friends. There will be no cork sniffers in my house.lol

First electric was a 20 year old Yamaha RGX112p that I still have. Cut a new pickguard, installed a single EMG 81 and tuned to Bb. Neck is totally shaped to my hand and the frets are nearly gone after all those years. For the money that guitar was awesome. Finish hard as nails. I even took it to the studio a couple years back for a death metal record and the engineer said that thing wailed. So, it's here to stay :). Easy to say, because I probably would have to give it away if I wanted to get rid of it, but still ;)
