Is it brighter sounding than a regular JP6 BFR? Overall thoughts?

Best JP to date. Doesn't sound different from a BFR (both alder with mahogany tone block)- does sound different from a JPX.

I'm not sure about the fretboard radius. Does it feel/play much different from the regular BFR?

So if the regular BFR and the JPXI sound the same what are the real world differences other than the fretboard?

The fingerboard is very flat. Not much of a difference in feel to me.

The fretboard is the biggest difference- and it is a big difference. I definitely prefer the 20" radius and find it to be more comfortable. Though you may not notice or appreciate it until after playing on it awhile and then switching to a regular BFR. The other big improvement for me is the Ebony fretboard. I don't like Rosewood. I don't like how it looks or feels. Ebony is only standard on the JPX, just like the symmetrical (smaller/sleeker upper horn) and enlarged body shape. So there's three real world examples. The only other difference is the enlarged bassplate, which I think fell a little short of what could've been another big difference. If it was just a little bit wider on the opposite side, it would've been perfect.

Pretty much what everybody has said. My JPXI's neck reminds me of a classical guitar because it is so flat.

I have both, and, this is just my ears, the stainless steel frets are a little brighter, but not hugely noticeable as compared to a BFR JP. It is my first experience with SS frets and they do have a smoother feel than traditional frets.

I've had a BFR, JPX, and now the JPXi and I prefer it over all the other models. As previously stated, sounds very much the same as the BFR. The newer neck carve just seriously works for me. I've said on this board many times, stainless frets really do kick butt! They look great, play silky smooth, and just don't wear out. I guess if I had one complaint it would be the single color availability. My favorite JP in a landslide.

I have been desperately wanting to get my hands on one and try it. I used to play a brand that had an incredibly flat neck, but it was so wide it hurt to play. I always wondered what a JP neck would feel like if it were more flat, and sure enough the JPXI is, but no GC or shop in my area seems to have one.
