Question Who regularly gigs their "Collector" piece(s)?

I gig my two "one offs" regularly... the 25th RW's is still mint...my bongo...not so much.

But I agree, these basses are built to be played and in my case(like most) they were bought to be gigged and make me extra cash so I can buy more basses.....

I don't play many gigs but not only do I play my DDII, I also play my 2006 Ric Amber Fireglo color of the year. Otherwise, what's the point.

I gig all my basses, but I think just the SR5 bfr rosewood is really rare. Since I collected them all, they' re collectibles to me...

I don't have any 'collectibles', but it really hurt to get the first paint chip on my Bongo, in the standard place on the tip of the headstock. Somehow it bothered me more than on any other bass I've owned. But I wouldn't own a bass I wouldn't play out. Life's too short for that.

I do love playing gigs with my 20th Anniv Silhouette and LE07 Albert Lee. But I will admit if the place is a bit dodgy (i.e. half of the dive bars we play), I leave them at home and take my Silhouette Special. Still can't go wrong with the SS!

Well I am going to me the odd man out I guess, I have a bass or 2 that I won't gig - example I have a mint 1977 stingray but also have a 1979 stingray (roadworn) so I play the 1979 (not all the time I like the EBs better than the Pre-EBs), and as we know that the vintage market is out of control what I paid for my 77 I have been offered 3 fold and I see it as a bit of an investment it also sounds the same as my 79 so can't see the point of risking the 77
I agree that they are meant to be played but because of the financial aspects some intruments are just too valuable eg custom colour 60's F@nders

I was just wondering who here regularly plays/gigs their "collector" piece...Your LE, Dargie, BFR, Vintage, or Anniversary models????

My Dargie II only has a couple of gigs under her belt, but with 5 upcoming shows (a couple in "Dive" bars), I'm worried about it getting beat up. Part of me wants to case it(and never take it out of the house)...the other part of me wants to just let it get its first chip, ding, or scratch.

Lets hear it...

not so sure I'd think collector as much as Killer one offs etc, but the bottom line is I play every Ernie Ball i own, these are so awesome i refuse to put them away, they are just incredible tools for the job, So i'd say Play em and buy em, the more you have the more fun it gets.
