Part of me says it will just sit on my bass rack and part of me says it's a chance to broaden my horizons.

I think I want a 6.

*raises hand*

I've had a few 6's in the past. Currently, only have my stingray DD 4 though. Sold my last 6 about a month ago in anticipation of the Bongo 6.

Can't get my head around 5 strings :)

so probably will avoid the 6-stringer.

Quite happy with the 4 string basses I have got.

I think it'll be quite some time before I can afford a 6-string, and frankly I don't know what I'd use it for that i couldn't do with my 5-strings.
That thin string just seems so unnecessary:D
Still, going on stage with that thing would look cool:)

I've had a couple of 5 strings but it never really took. I don't think a 6 would work for me either. I guess I'm just a 4 stringer.

I've heard it said before... "Real men play four strings"

Real man checking in... ;)

I noodled with the Bongo 6 in La Quinta - I could see myself owning one but more as a part-time diversion.

For everyday meat and potatoes it's the four-banger for me.

+1

I've got a non-EBMM 5 string that I picked up real cheap to see if I could cope with the extra string, and it's very nice (especially for the $150 I paid for it!) and I enjoy shaking the house with that low B, but, come gig time, it's the 4 string Sterling that gets the call!

One thing I've noticed is that when I go back to the Sterling after having played the 5 string for a few days, it seems like I'm playing a broom stick...that (almost) naked maple feels so good, I just rip up and down the neck like nobody's business!:D

5 strings are cool, if that's what you're into, but I'll always be a neolithic 4 banger at heart! Different Strokes, variety is the spice of life, whatever floats your boat, etc, etc, etc,

What really cracks me up are the seven, nine and ten string coffee tables that you see now and then! Great Entwistle's Ghost, those things are freaky!

If anything, I'd go the other way...I could get into a nice two or three string! If nothing else, I'd be making more use of the higher frets... (I told you I was neolithic.)

i would get one, but i'm fine with my 5 and my 4 right now! I honestly don't need another one.

Plus it would take me a while to save up again.

I'll own a Bongo 6. Definitely. A five string Bongo will probably always be my number one, but a 6 would certainly get lots of playing time.

Donald Duck Dunn was once asked why he doesn't play a 5-string bass. His reply:

"Because a bass has 4 strings."

That being said, I have a SR5 in my collection, but the 4s receive much more attention. Perhaps if I had first started with a 5-string when I was a kid taking lessons....

6 strings?

Hell, I'd like to see a 2 or 3 string bass. Ever see "The Presidents" play?
