Who's using flatwounds? Which ones?

I just put a set of Group III's on my SR5 last night. We'll see how these things you guys call "flats" will work tonight at rehersal...

flats are wonderful! they take considerably longer to break in in my opinion but when you do there is no going back! i use the EB group IIIs on my bass and they sound wonderful. right now however since the d finally snapped after 2 years use im using a 2.5 year old set of roundwounds and its killing me not having my precious flats lol.

I use EB flats and Chromes. They sound about the same to me, and I dont mean that in a bad way.

Currently have EB flats on my SR5 and it kills.

I use EB Bass Slinkys for roundwounds exclusively - great sounding strings IMO! I recently tried the EB flats (group III I believe) and thought they sounded great as well! I was also unaware that EB makes flats until just recently. I did switch back to Chromes though - been using them for many years and they're what I'm most comfortable with for flats. They're a bit bright/klanky when new but they warm up with use and become warm and punchy - especially on a Bongo! EB Bass Slinkys on a Bongo sound scary good!!

If EB made a 6 string set of flatwounds, I would be using them. :-(

I ran away from Rotos. I had those on my bass for a month and they didn't sound warm as much as they sounded like a set of dead roundwounds. Went back to D'Acme's flats and I'm enjoying them. Haven't ever gotten to try EB flats, but I play a 6 string... keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, My brand spankin' new Bongo6 fretless showed up with rounds. Marking a board I waited 6 months for from rounds was NOT gonna happen.

Recently bought a 4 string classic, which has string through only, no string holes in the bridge. Can the EB flats be used without breaking? Would like to try some flats on this bass with the string mutes.

Yes. I have them on my Ebony Edition StingRay, which also has a string through body design bridge. No problem.
