Back to the original question of this thread, maybe it's due to the Luke having fewer options, and therefore fewer flavors to jones after? IIRC, the only options on a current production Luke are piezo and headstock. The AL has those two options, plus bridge type, pickups, and pickguards. The ASS has all that plus fretboard wood and flame or quilt top, and then there's the Axis non-SS, too. Maybe it just seems like it's easier to justify a 2nd or 3rd or 4th AL or ASS as really being different from one you might already have.

Of course the JPs are relatively limited too (inlays and piezo, I think), but with 6- or 7-string flavors...

USA, for now, but a Brit at heart
I kept hearing all these great things about the luke and refused to buy one cause it had emg pu's which I generally hate.
Then I finally tried one. Duh!
Bought it on the spot and never looked back. I am always tempted to sell some of my other guitars and buy more lukes (just bought a bfr).
BP, more variety please. how bout coming out with some cool sparkles. Unfortunately i missed the dargie and now I am jonesing for a sparkle luke (or two).

the thing is miss about the Luke is the amazing feel of the neck, i never came to terms with the pickups, especially after i discovered the AL's, but my hands always loved playing the Luke V neck, so i figured i should buy a new one, my old Burnt Apple had issues that turned me off it, a nice shiny new one should do the trick! I do love single coils, i play them all the time, i'm not really a humbucker guy, and after seeing Albert live i think i'm firmly entrenched in single coil land, clean is where its at for me.

I totally agree with you. This neck is amazing !!!

And there is noting like a factory setup to make you fall in love with an EBMM :p

I have kept my Luke with floating trem for 4 month but now I have set it non flaoting just like I like it and it's perfect !
