I just guess I don't like that Uber-badass look. Brass Knuckle inlays aren't cool. Neither is playing a guitar with them, while wearing lots of make up

So are these discontinued? I have read somewhere on the internet that they were.... but MMONLINE doesn't indicate that.

There hasn't been any announcements, so I'd say "No". I wonder if they sell/sold like they thought they would?

My local guitar store has a green one that they've had for at least two years. It was in there when I was shopping for a new guitar in early 06, and it was in the area where they put guitars they're trying to dump a couple of weeks ago when I went in to buy strings. The store hasn't even been an EBMM dealer for at least a year (at least that's what they told my wife when she tried to order through them). You could probably get a good deal on it now. :D

It has the textured finish? Hmm... With some pup combos it could be a sweet axe, and for pretty cheap :D

i was watching one on ebay a few months ago assuming it would go cheap and id nab it but it ended up going for as much as a used Silo (i dont remember if the guitar was new or used). So, im sure people are aware that its a quality instrument.

as far as sales etc: You'll find some posts by BP on this subject cuz its been brought up a few times. I don't remember if I know the whole story b/c BP told me or b/c i read it here so I won't bust out details... but a few searches will probably get you the whole dish.

The benji is made for low tuning (the factory gauge is 12-16-(RPS) - 24w-32-42-52). If you play in normal tuning, you have first to set the intonation and perhaps you have to change the nut (the slots are too wide if you play with 9-42). Perhaps, it's easier to buy directly a Silo .

do you know is there any different between BM and silspec in scale/other things which make the benji is special for low tuning?

i also guess that benji would have a very unique sound.. since it only has one pick up ( if there are no other neck and mid pick up cavity in under the pickguard) and it has string through body bridge system.. i wonder, would the sustain and the wood respons better than silo spec?

One pickup Esquire fans claim they sound better/different with just one pup in the circuit.

I can see that. Sorta like having no pedals in front of an amp as opposed to 5. But still, I like having 2 humbuckers that sound as good as they do on my JPs :D

Well, it's going to be a well made guitar, that's a given with it being an EBMM.

A lot of internet keyboard warriors seem to have a problem with the guitar, which most likely stems from a dislike of the artist. I've seem comments like 'wtf this iz ova $1000 for a gitar with only 1 pikup man n00b pwned' and the like, but there doesn't appear to be a shortage of single humbucker guitars going for more than $1000.

Personally, I wouldn't mind getting one. I thought that I'd won an e-bay auction last year on one, until the seller decided to cancel my bid after I'd won it. Still, life goes on. I'd like to get on to use for slide playing, I think it would be pretty good.

No doubt it's a quality guitar, and yeah, dislike of the artist probably has something to do with it. For me, that's certainly the case. But it also doesn't make any sense for the money to me. I can add just a little to the price and get a Silo that has a lot more versatility and can handle a normal set of strings without any adjustments. I'm just not all that into buying single strings to make up a set.

My guess is that even if the Benji doesn't do a lot of volume in sales, Benji still reaches a young niche market, and the Benji OLP is an easy check in the mail to EBMM.

I was just at the supermarket, and as I was paying I noticed a trashy mag that said Paris and Benji are an item, seeing as I have no idea about celebrities do they mean the EBMM Benji??? Thats a way to boost sales of the axe, maybe Paris can be the EBMM Jenna.

well maybe not.

It's really hard to have respect for an instrument that is designed by a player that you don't respect as a player. I understand the business side of having someone like Benji as an endorser, he definitely reaches a different market than the typical Music Man customer. However, I've always enjoyed the fact that Music Man endorsers were player's players. Benji definitely doesn't fit that mold.

I have no love for the Benji, because I have no love for Benji.

Fair point,
But equally, much as Albert Lee is unquestionably an amazing guitarist I don't really feel any connection with the music he plays.
However the guitar that carries his name? Now that's another thing.
