For those of you who are new and don't know who CLB is, he's BP youngest son Casey Lee Ball. You can read about his story here:

Auction Items for Casey Lee Ball

There hasn't been an auction in a very long time. Will this years Namm instruments be offered as they have in the past?

An excellent charity and oppertunity for collectors - I was $400 short of DaveB's bid for Global Warming, - maybe next time.

I suppose with a burst market it can't be easy to give away guitars - perhaps a boost for 2010 will see some things bear fruit...

This is an awesome and noble thing.

My fiancee works in pediatric kidney research (Wilms tumor) - and man, we seriously don't know even remotely enough about the underlying causes of all the different kidney diseases out there. Any penny that goes into this is well spent, and it's a global issue.

What if us Knuckelheads gave BP and his family a Christmas present and all made a donation to the CLB foundation. Who needs an auction? It's just a great cause...

Just trying to not mix business too much with my cause....

On another note... rarity is what makes things valuable anyway, so why not make sure the auctions are REALLY special anyway? I.e. if you want to do more in the future, but not mix too much biz with cause, it actually makes the auctions more special anyway.

But, on your original point... it might be cool to add one of your other passions to the auctions in cars? That would give some people who maybe can't put huge dollars down on the auction could donate their time and mechanical abilities (should they have them lol) to do some rebuilds and restorations for the cause. I know if I was in the area I'd put a wrench, torch, and welder to action.

Ok... my out loud brainstorm rambling session is now over. lol

cm is your fiancee at Boston Childrens?

She is a at the MGH Cancer Center. But I am at Childrens - yet doing basic research on blood (leukemia-related). I however collaborate with a kidney regeneration lab, and also with my fiancee. When you come down to cells and molecules, things get very similar.

I certianly hope that more money is given to kidney disease research. My wifes kidneys were wiped out by scleroderma, which is another disease that is in dire need of research.

The name doesn't ring a bell, guess he must be in clinical research with patients then. In any case, it's great to see your support! The Children's Hospital is a great place to work for IMO, clinically as well as for research, they take good care of their people.
