"I know some here bad mouth the place, but I think that should be directed at just a couple of bad employees, not the whole chain".

Psycho...I would probably aggree with you here....but every store I have gone into, just has some kind of issues going on at the time. Whether that be employee issues at not knowing anything about what they are selling, or items out of stock that were promised in stock, or blown amps on the floor for demo.

I equat GC to a used car lot....sell as much as you can, fast as you can...and every so often, when a good deal and salesperson comes your way, consider yourself fortunate.

And I am not "bad mouthing" or "bashing" GC. These experiences I have shared have happened to me...the truth is not "Bashing".

I’ve only set foot in their stores twice, got a good deal and left. I went in looking for a specific item and I didn’t need any thing from a sales person but the price.

I’m just saying my own personal experience was good that’s all I’m mainly an online shopper, but will give my local stores a shot. I prefer to pay taxes in my own state, but sometimes the locals can’t touch some of the internet deals. My wife is a CPA, so I’m trained to get the best deal. :D

This place is really cool. Thanks BP, these opportunities to ask artists and ceo's questions is something we all would like to do but would never get the chance. Have you set a time and date yet?

Mostly GC's are all good, you don't have a 130 + stores from a bad business dealings. I buy 15 to 20 Stingrays a year from them, but again I know what i want so i walk in and buy them. My Problem is with Ernie Ball, They make these basses so damn good I buy almost everyone I Pickup.

Just a quick note: If Mr. Marty Albertsen plans on making an account here on the forums for this event, please remind him to turn off his private messaging!

It's really cool that he's gonna do this and that you've talked to him about it. I love these forums, I do, I do.

THis is a great opportunity to ask this man about the history of GC. What the core goals are, wht the culture is, their relationship with vendors, customers and their vision for the future.

Well - this should be very interesting and hopefully informative.

Think he can get me a good deal on......just kidding.

You guys need to keep in mind, whenever you talk about salespeople who don't know as much as you do (supposedly), you guys are NOT the average consumer. When I run into someone who doesn't have the specific EBMM information that I have, there is the possibility that he knows a hell of a lot more about Korg Workstations - but I'm not buying one of those.

Just a thought.

Guitar Center is a very successful operation and I would have freaked out and swallowed my tongue if there had been a GC around when I was a teenager. Any of you old guys remember the average mom and pop shop back when we were kids?

Looking forward to it, BP.

I simply mentioned that it would, in fact, make a pretty funny photo.

Other than that, I really don't like to think about Steve's backside.

You know, I'm kind of luke warm on GC. I really don't go there very much. Most of my buying happens online. These days a lot of my music equipment is coming from samedaymusic/zzounds (same company). Their prices are usually competitive with everyone elses and their shipping is cheap and fast with minimal costs to upgrade to 2nd or next day shipping.

I think my local GC (San Francisco) has weeded out a few of their weak links, as I've been getting better service lately.

However, I don't buy my basses from them or any other local shop because I want my new bass to come to me untouched by the public.

If you're lucky, the local shops will have the same floor item in backstock unopened; but that's a rarity.

The same stores will usually have backstock on their amps, and that's the local purchasing that I do.
