Because BP is equivalent to Willy Wonka and JP is basically Charlie getting his wishes come true hehehehe. BP, maybe you should have that as your next NAMM theme :D

Its not just because they sell. Its because John Petrucci sat down with Sterling and said "Hey, what would happen if we did X to my model?" Or "I want to have more resonance from my chords, what can we do about that?" JP Probably has a use for each one of those guitars for specific songs or even just portions of songs. (If i remember correctly, the Bari was brought out for the Octavarium Song "Panic Attack")

Romania ...that's a country ...in Europe :))
I consider this a rational point of view:
EBMM makes every JP wish come true - it's a win-win situation:
1. JP can have basically any modification he wants to his guitar and he is happy to go along with this company
2. EBMM makes good money on JP's name and his signature guitars
It's all about money in the end, cause this models are not just made for JP's fun and only hanging in his house, they are all over the world ;-) (and I know no one likes to hear that, but come on this is the profit based economy :))

if you were in john's shoes I have no doubt you would spend a lot of time experimenting.

John and EBMM are always on the move and this is good !!

Well how many guys would be moaning if only JP had access to everything outside of a JP6. Paulo is right that this is a business and a greatly run one at that since everyone is fortunate to buy what they want that is exactly what the artist is playing. My new EB #1 guitar now is the AL HH that I saw in the hands of Blues Saraceno and Dweezil Zappa before it was in Alberts. So I feel fortunate that I can have a guitar that most companies would only knock off a few to issue to a famous player.

Good Question.

My motto or mantrea since day one is to make tools for artists.

Simple.

Steve Morse has only needed 2 since 1986. He still plays the first one we made.

Luke 2 since 1993

Albert 1...I added the second.

John Petrucci is always pushing forward. I am the luckiest guy in the guitar business who gets to work with all of these guys but to have a chance to not just stop and kkep testing things. What a reward. Each and every incarnation of JP's has been a valid model. They stand on their own. Why not embrace the opportunity to bring new tools to the market. They arent just a new can of paint.

As for the money...It has never been a driving motivator for me. We have to make a profit to insure our existence and to fund our r and d...but if you do everything else ok you usually manage to come out ok
