I can't speak for any change in guitar case length, but the bass case was lengthened to make room for the Bongo 5.

To make international shipping harder !

Those extra 2" more than double the USPS shipping costs to Oz !

That wouldnt surprise me ...if it doesnt fall within certain dimentions it goes to the next price level!!! ...2" in length may do it hahahaha......:D

I think it depends on the guitar. My wife's Silhouette and My JP6 have the same length case, but my 25th's case is about 2 inches shorter than those ones.

One think I noticed is the orientation of the guitars inside the case. The Silo & JP are both "straight" or "parallel" to the case. The 25th is angled in the case.

I don't think it's the guitar itself. I have the "short" case from my 04 ASS. I have a long case for my 08 Axis. Either fits in my Subaru trunk so I sort of randomly use whatever case happens to have the guitar in it that I'm using.

Yes, the redesigned and branded cases are slightly longer than the previous cases, with exceptions being 25th Anny guitar cases and lefty JP cases. The new design provides extra security for the guitar with the extra padding around the edges.

And yes, the 2" oftentimes makes it oversize during shipping - a bonus charge for those circumventing the distributor network!

I've noticed this- I have 3- 2 old style. The old case fits in my Mini. The new style doesn't.

I will happily swap my brand new case with somebody for the older shorter length case. The old case fits in my Mini. The new style doesn't!

Please message me if you want to swap (and live in the UK!!).

I'm serious by the way! I will swap a brand new case for an old and battered one. No joke.

Bigger is better unless you live in a country where the population gets shafted for buying petrol! :D

It's about £1.05 a litre at the moment. Shocking.
