Hey, I'm new to forums and the interwebs.
i just got a Y2D today, and of all my guitars, it's the single greatest in terms of build quality, playability, beauty, I mean EVERYTHING. Except the rear cover. now, I have seen many many EBMMs and never before now have i seen the surface mount covers. what led to this? if anyone knows, please fill me in. i'd post pics, but alas, i'm a tech dumbass

Wow...I posted that thread more than three years ago...I was such a noob! The non-recessed backplates aren't a big deal at all. They're so thin that when you're playing you don't even notice. Plus, I think the textured metal is much cooler than the plastic. They've had them on the Bongo since they were first being made in 2003 or 2004, I can't remember what the first year was. They started putting them on the JP guitars in 2007 from what I've seen, and all other EBMM models followed soon after I believe.

Jeez Pete, You truly are EVERYWHERE!!! Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Pete DuBaldo!!! As I'm sure you could tell, that EVH was never played by Me, and probably only once by the previous owner. That definitely cannot be said about this geetar!!! this Morse is insane. Dude, i have a JEM, a satch, couple of Wolfies, (Not the newer fender garbage) an 86 Steinberger GM, a custom built fretsong, a 50's reissue strat (played and signed by the Tone Ranger Himself Eric Johnson) a 5150 i built and a perty slick tele i built( not saying i build em awesome, just that it came out pretty damn well) NEVER in my life have i picked up a bone stock guitar and been so enamored. and its all thanks to you. so, if you get any death threats from any of my old guitars, dont worry, they're all cased up and probably won't see daylight for a long long time. and thanks for the answer to my question.
