I gotta say, I really love my Sub. The tones I can get out of that thing are amazing. It really sings, and it's GREAT for everything from blues to Floyd to metal. I can even get the single coil quack occasionally. I also love the textured finish and satin painted neck. It's not the prettiest thing, but it's incredibly comfortable and low maintenance. That said, if I compare it to my JP side by side, the JP is definitely more 'finished'. It looks a little higher class - but they both play beautifully.

Even though I have a Dargie Luke and another JP on order, I will likely continue to use my Sub as my main jam axe. It's just so comfortable, versatile and worry-free that if I wasn't addicted to EBMM, I wouldn't need anything else.

They are great when you have left the comfort of your bedroom too, since they are damn near bullet proof

I had two SUB1 guitars and a SUB bass and I dont think the rosewood boards were any different to those on my Bongo and Axis SuperSport.the graphite SUB1 HH had a really dark chocolate almost ebony one but the 2nd one,a black HH,now residing with another forumite had that really deep rich reddish hue to it which I though was dead luxurious looking. The SUB bass was a bit more open grained and streaky than the guitars and probably lighter than the other two but it had a lovely sheen and still looked 15 rungs up the ladder from most out there.

The one thing I'd change on the SUB guitar is the bridge saddles from the vintage type to the chunkier ones on the SuperSport.I like the difference in tone and sustain.

and I loved the EB skinny top heavy bottom strings (10-52) on the guitars.really brought the character out

Well! There goes that theory then, eh? :D I'm glad to hear that. As I said, the few that I've seen were lighter than the regular models, apparently by coincidence.

OOPS:

The SUB1s are routed HH not HSH as I mistakenly posted earlier! Sorry!

The fact is, Rosewood darkens with age/exposure to the sun etc. Just as what happens to Mahogany, Sapele et al

As far as workmanship and playability, it`s definitely up there where a Musicman should be and is. It`s not one of those guitars in the beautiful looking catagory but it is one very high on the COOL chart!
