SUB5 has conventional oval shaped PG, like the classic SR5, not
the "quote bubble" PG on the SR5. In every other way, its a SR.

The SR5 in the days when SUBs were current [and a while after
that as well] had Sterling-type PUs [ceramic], whilst the SUB5
always had SR4-type PUs [alnico]. So, from that era, the SUB5
[NOT the SR5] is the 5-string for those who love their SR4 tone.

That is why I prefer the sound of the sub 5 over a sr5. And the oval pickguard wins over the moo moo look of the sr5's.
