is the neckplate on my Axis recessed?

i just discovered it!!

They did that on the older EBMMs but unskilled guitar techs began removing the necks and tightening the screws way more than necessary which caused the finish to crack. Too bad I thought it was a classy touch.

I have both kinds, and prefer the non recessed type. But hey! Thays just me!
