eBay.ca: Alden Cherry Wild 4 String Electric Bass Guitar (item 270118693613 end time 15-May-07 22:50:00 EDT)

I was looking around on ebay for bargains and noticed this bass here. I have a fancy for more interesting and unique looking gear. I've looked for information on the brand of it, an Alden as the auction calls it, and i couldn't find anything. You gents on this board seem to be up on all your knowledge of things, so would anyone know anything? Is it a total lemon? Any info would be muchly appreciated. Mods feel free to delete if this is too OT

Heres some pics for those who don't feel the need to follow the link

With the pups it has.... it's got to be a newer bass. Unless someone carved it up. Reminds me of something Eastwood would do.

Looked at the headstock. The upper headstock carve reminds me of Peavey (sic)? Looks like it has stripes running thru the neck.

Use your money for a used EBMM. It's kinda neat to find a diamond in the rough, though!

A quick search on TB reveals this:

Here's some info....

Alden guitars are made in China...Same company/Factory that made Jay Turser.
Specs are all pretty much the same as the Turser line...Actually the Logo on the Headstock is/was for Turser.

The Alden pickups are pretty bad (or at aleast the ones one the Turser models were). Very low output.

As for Wood....It's anyones quess. I think I would call it particle board.
- Frets are pretty bad, uneven and thats if you can actually get a straight enough neck.
- Many necks are Warped.
- Finishes are ok...but nothing to rave about. Very thin, Scratch easy.

Entwistle does make the pu's, but I believe they are the lowest/cheapest quality he makes.

Do yourself a favor and invest in something better.

Done and Done. I just really need something to play untill my Ray gets here
All i've got right now is the cheapest Peavey you could buy at the time. The Pickups crackle, the frets buzz like it's nobody's business, the 1/4 input jack routinely comes unscrewed and falls behind the pickgaurd, and i have to use a set of key's ar a screwdriver to tune the G string cause the tunining key broke off.

God i need the Stingray :(
