Will there ever be another EBMM SIGNATURE MODEL GUITAR???

Hey guys. So that pic that EBMM posted recently with the new "Crafted In" label has got me thinking...do you think we'll ever see another signature model guitar? I know EBMM will only put out a signature model if the player is A LEGEND. :D

If there ever was another signature model available in the future, who do you think it would be for?

I've been dreaming of a Chuck Berry signature model for a looong time!
I doubt it will ever be a MM though!

I think Blues Saraceno deserves one!

I'm sure there will be.

I'm no marketing genius but I've wondered why there aren't limited runs of signature instruments? Just spitballing here but how about a limited run of a reflex or axis with a couple of tweaks specific to an artist? Fender does signature Stratocasters that are hardly different than any other stratocaster for example.

Not sure who, but as guitarists we are very susceptible to that kind of marketing. Without it, no company could survive.

I loves me some EBMM but honestly where would this company (or ANY guitar company) be without it's stable of stars?

Hey BUC,

You raise some VERY good points here - I'll jump in with my thoughts on this...

Many of the EBMM fans are mostly fans of one particular model - Morse in my case, but there's clearly guys in the ALOC, JPOC, Axis, Silhouette, etc. who have guitars (almost) exclusively of that model.

In the signature models, I think this would work, if the artist actually played the guitar, for fans of that artist/model, but...

In Morse's case - he's pretty much had his "number one" and that's it for MUCH of his playing. Of course, the Y2D being the exception, which seems to be a successful product but he doesn't seem to pick one for playing based on the aesthetics of it.

This did work, kinda backwards, with Steve Lukather. As you may recall, BP did special one-off-true-gold models for each of his siggy artists and Lukather really seemed to take to it - played it quite a bit, demand built, and then there was a limited run of the guitar.

For Albert Lee - the guy's well past 70 and still SMOKING - but, being well past 70, he doesn't get as many magazine covers as he used to - which is sad...

This brings us to the big gun - Petrucci - and he seems to come out with a new model almost every year - which is a good thing and I support that effort - but looks tough to squeeze in a limited run on top of that...

I think the PDN offerings are kinda filling that gap - and there's been some great ones.

What EBMM don't seem to do is release a an artist limited edition purely for the marketing of it - and that sounds like a good thing to me.

Keep discussing gang! :)

I am sure there will be more signature models, but sadly, as I head towards my 6th decade, the chances of me knowing who they or their bands are gets less and less!

Much like the last couple of PRS signature models....

I SOOOO agree with Kevin!!!

I think the way MM handles his signature policy is just about perfect.
We can play the same model as the artists and most of them are available in the BFR version.
We are also tempted by the PDN models every year and we can even order a PDN BFR...
Once in a while MM will produce a goldroller serie or dargie delight or darklord...
That's plenty enough to keep us entertained I think. I'd hate to have a trillion different models such as FENSON guitars.
I've got the feeling that a signature model at MM is really more than a temporary marketing affair.
I hope they won't change a thing in the WAY they handle this! But I sure hope to see other signature models!

Both Bonamassa and Mayer are great players but they are definitely not in the same realm as Morse, Lee, Lukather and Petrucci. I love the fact that EBMM will not put out a signature model unless the player is a legend (for use of a better word). Bonamassa is the type of guy who will always play multiple instruments and can't play just one (not like Morse who will play his number one forever).

They put out a Benji Madden signature guitar at one point... A player doesn't have to be a legend. BP said one time that the BM Sig was about exposure for the brand to a particular market. There aren't many ALs, JPs, Lukes, Morse out there these days then take into account ones that are that brand loyal. Just look at how many companies the guy that the Axis was designed for has been with.

yes there will be sig artists...they may be legends, they may not be...they may be artists that possess a vast amount of creativity. I can promise you that no matter what we do there will be threads doubting it....hahahah
