I've decided that I'm going to find the red pick. So you guys are free to battle for the remainder of the prizes. Going to get some more Cobalt strings........

It is interesting to note that my Guitar Center catalog lists two of the prizes in a different way: the red pick prize is "$10 000 worth of Music Man instruments" and the white pick prize is "$10 000 worth of Ernie Ball strings".

It really sucks so much that this is only for US.
IMO it's almost better for a company that sells world-wide to skip contests like these if they only offer it in 1 part of the world since it'll only lead to angry and frustrated customers who'll feel left out.

I couldn't care less about the price-money or the price-artifacts(okay, the custom MM would be kinda cool but I can live without it). The thing that really grinds my groins(is that the correct expression? :p ) is the fact that I'll be missing out on the chance to win the masterclass with Petrucci.

I don't feel agrieved at all by the fact that it is only open to US residents.
It's a US company company after all - and who knows how the US tax system works? there could be the loss of Tax relief implications if the prize goes to a non US resident?

Couple of packs of Cobalt would be fine for me lol

A private lesson with John Petrucci doesn't exist so officially there's no price on it - therefore no tax. It would be more like a "favor" that I'm given by EBMM. The guitar and other prices though is of course trickier and I believe you are completely correct in that the tax issue could be why they choose to host the contest for US residents only. For instance, I know canadian advertising laws make it very difficult to host it for Canadians.

I still don't think it's fair. I definitely don't know much, if anything at all, about advertisement laws or laws regarding subjects around that, but if a company have found the means to SELL stuff all over the world, they should be able to figure out a way to GIVE stuff away all over the world too. Don't you think?

Imagine how many EBMM customers who are fans of JP and would die to get to have a lesson with him. Then think of how many of those fans are located outside of US, are you surprised the customers will feel cheated on and left out by their beloved company?

10k in strings would be slpit among all the winning sets. lets say $10 a set = 1000 winners.

More inportant question: How do you know you are getting a pack with a code/pick? Any special packaging/sticker? If you buy today you may be getting sotre stock that is already in place?

As if I needed an excuse to buy more Cobalts. They are fantastic strings and all I will ever buy now. I guess I'll have to buy more. :)

Well that makes more sense than one guy winning 10K worth of strings which would be overwhelming even for me lol. So I have to figure you get a string pick you get a set of strings. I always feel for you guys across the pond being left out of a lot of the LE's but at least Sterling is doing the PDN's which you guys can get which is a lot more than other companies do. I look at GC like any big franchise (say a McDonalds) and wonder if they will open a store over in the UK so you guys could get in on the GC Exclusives. As far as sitting in on a MC with JP that is going to be a bit of a problem even here in the States as it would have to work around his touring schedule, as I highly doubt he will be showing up at anyone's front door guitar in hand lol.

well I don't think this is the place to use phrases such as "cheated" and "left out" so I'm not going to debate this further further. - it wasn't the intended purpose of this thread in the first place, and I keep out of things like this.

However, what I would take issue with is ... "they should be able to figure out a way to GIVE stuff away all over the world too. Don't you think?".

I and many other european knuckleheads have benefited and gratefully received "Stuff" courtesy of Ernie Ball.
We have had Knucklehead bashes which has raffled a BFR Pink Albert Lee Guitar, Benji Madden guitar,an Axis Supersport, free food, free drink, free live entertainment until sunrise the next day!! free packs of strings and various other free bees. We've had free clinics too that also raffled off some great SUB guitars.
Be aware that these take a lot of setting up, cost and employee time. I was lucky enough to Help Strings n Things with an Albert Lee Clinic and experienced the "behind the scenes work" that goes on - a lot of EB's Money goes into this.
I've travelled to Steve Morse Clinics - again free and Jamie Humphries Clinics free again.
The fact that this time an opportunity to see JP in a one to one clinic, is not available doesn't faze me - but I can appreciate the disapointment for dyed in the wool JP fans outside the US.

I think we have done well with EB's "free stuff" - sometimes you just gotta go out of your way to experience it?

I'm not shouting here - just putting a few comments into perspective.

Tanax's concerns have been addressed, via email.

Yes, thank you.

I got some explanation by customer service and apparently there are huge amounts of money involved with getting something like this to European countries.

I'm still a fairly new EBMM customer so I haven't heard of these clinics you mentioned, unfortunately, so I can't comment on those. But don't get me wrong, I understand now why it's such a hassle to get things like this to EU - that doesn't mean that I feel less sad or frustrated though as I reaaaalllyyyy would have wanted the chance to have a one on one lesson with JP :/

But yeah, with that said, I understand why things are the way they are.
