I'm building a guitar with 2 humbucker pickups....ordered a Ernie Ball 3 way EVH toggle switch(always liked their toggle switches best). It has a weird circuit board on it and was wondering how to wiring it with the 2 pickups? Toggle says on/on/on....is this correct? HELP? Note....I had to clip part of the board off in order to fit in lower strat horn cavity....just clipped what looked to be a ground from a metal washer that had a wiring running from it to pcm board....

The 3-way toggle is pretty standard- lots of sites have wiring diagrams for it.

If the circuit board is throwing you off, best bet is to email the folks at customer service. They can email you a wiring diagram so you know what goes where.

It is an on/on/on toggle. Wire the hot lead from one pickup on one side of the toggle (you can see where in the wiring diagram) and the hot lead from the other on the other side. Middle goes to the input of your volume pot, left wiper.

Tons of diagrams on the Internet about this. Get a multimeter and check continuity as you flip the switch.

De solder the switch from the board and wire as normal. I did this with my 20th Silo when putting in a coil tap pot and changing the bridge pickup to a Breed.

It's not a standard switch like a 3 way les paul switch. Un-soldered PC board and it has 2 rows of 3 pegs or 3 rows of 2(depending on how you look at it). I have 2 humbuckers and 2 volumes with 1 tone I'm attaching to the bridge humbucker. How do I wire it? Don't know how to attachs pics....sorry.

As Beej has already said twice in this thread, do a search for wiring diagrams. I would try DiMarzio.com or google and type in humbucker wiring diagrams with three way switch and see what comes up.

I believe it is On/on/on but I forget, you should check.

Oh I see, Beej already said that :)

Guys....NONE OF THE DIAGRAMS HAVE A WIRING PLATFORM FOR A 6 POST 3 WAY TOGGLE SWITCH LIKE ERNIE BALL HAS....NONE!!!! Do I just ignore an entire row of 3??? Every 3 way toggle I've every done is like a Gibsons...those are easy and not what I'm talking about. I've searched for diagrams...had Ernie send me 2 diagrams that were absolutely no help. Anyone...ANYONE that could instruct me instead of making me out to be a fool would be appreciated. Thanks....

Are you sure it's an Ernie Ball Axis toggle? I have one sitting in my toolbox right now and it's got three soldering spots, not six.

Ok - sorry man. Here's a diagram of 2 hums and two volumes and 1 tone on a three way switch. GuitarElectronics.com WDU-HH3T21-01

The switch you have has to be just a three way, in my mind, with two or three rows of 3 contacts/terminals. A PICTURE of it would do wonders to help us to help you. Post some pics of the switch so we can understand what it is and help you. Additionally, here's a pic of an EBMM switch.
102_0346.jpg

Does it look like your switch? If so the left hand side of three contacts ( going north to south) and the middle row(going north to south) of contacts are tied together electrically and what they are is redundant switch contacts. The row of three contacts on the right with solder on them (going north to south) are the output contacts and the wires from the pickups and/or pots are connected to them, and in this case they are connected on the underside of the printed circuit board (pcb). See the wires going under there? These right side contacts are also connected to the other two rows of three which are the switch contacts. This switch is in a Sub 1. I'm thinking the switch you have is the same maybe not exactly. It's a 3 way on/on/on and you can wire it up just like in the diagram I give you above, or the previous one I gave you. Use the right side contacts to hook up your wires. (not the two far right empty rows of three)

Does this help? Sorry for the fuzzy picture but I was hurrying to help you out man... LOL We'll get it figured out, OK....

I just read your last post, you can now do two things. You can solder each set of two side by side lugs in each row of three together on the switch and then hook up directly to one row of three terminals. Or, you can solder the pcb back on the switch like in my picture and then hook up to the empty row of three, on the right side out beyond the actual switch housing underneath.

Make sense? what you have is just a 3 way switch and I'm thinking it has redundant terninals two rows that do the same thing someone correct me here if that's not correct.

YOu might want to use that ring you took off to connect the switch to ground.
