I have a hss Silo Special. I have a Dimarzio Cruiser that I'm putting in the neck, I'm keeping the middle stock single and I'm putting an Dimarzio AT-1 in the bridge.
Currently the silent circuit blue lead is/was connected to the same terminal as the black wire from the neck. The neck pickup will now be a humbucker, so no need to re-attach the silent circuit there. If I choose to make position 3middle stock single only, then I'm assuming I would just attach the blue lead from the silent circuit to the same spot that my middle pickup is wired to. Correct? Question - since the middle pickup is wired directly into the silent circuit (via the black wire attached directly to the purple lead from the silent circuit) will the silent circuit still work properly? Hopefully this makes sense.
? - if I choose to make the middle pickup always combine with one of the other pickups (humbuckers), I wouldn't need the silent circuit would I?
? - to remove the silent circuit entirely from the equation, but keep it there in case I switch it up in the future, can I just remove all points of contact from the switch? or do I need to remove the silent circuit from the ground as well?
My plan is to mirror the original stock wiring (of the bridge and keep the Cruiser in full humbucking mode always), but I may look at different switching options. I wasn't aware until today that position 3 wasn't the middle pickup by itself....but now that I know, it sort of explains what I was hearing from the guitar.
I don't remember any of my Str@*$ wiring being as complex as what I'm looking at in my Silo.
BEEJ? LIONEL? Anyone?
Thanks-
Jeremy
