Wonder Wipes - Fretboard Conditioner.

Just used E.B wonder wipes fretboard conditioner on my Buttercreme Stingray.
It hadn't been out of its case in over 3months while i was in Denver so i brought a new set of strings for it back with me (coated 3832) ready to put on for when i got back. so while the strings were off i took the opportunity to condition the fretboard with the E.B wonder wipes (4261) and took some before and after pics.
It really is good stuff, it re-hydrated a fairly dry board an left it looking like new.
Defiantly recommend it for ease of use, no mess, and extremely effective.

Let me give you a tip about the wipe's tub don't feed then through the hole and leave one under the cap ready to pull, but leave them inside the tub and before you put the tub away put some cling film tightly sealed around the top edge before you put the lid back on because, nice as they are sadly they dry up pretty quick if left like that. And this not Ernie Ball's fault, but it's those tubs of wipes which are used in many different products from wet wipes for your kiddies bums to furniture polish and with time moisture manages to evaporates throught the lid so what I do is seal them with cling film before putting them away.

Thanks for the tip, i have them stored just wrapped in a plastic bag but for the amount of use they get will follow your advice, Thanks Dan.

EB Customer Service turned me on to them... now I am definately a fan!

I tried them once and was very impressed

I've heard complaints of the wipes drying out, so GrandWazoo's suggestions seem appropriate... although I wish EB would address the issue if it hasn't been looked at already.

We are aware of that Jack, but the smaller tub still dries out I am afraid to tell you.

I had a tub of these just like that, ending up as dry as sand paper, which is why though I love the product, on my next tub I decided to use cling film and so far it's working. As I've said this is not a fault of EBMM but all the manufacturers who use them suffer the same issue with dispersion of moisture thorugh the gaps in the lid

Interesting... While I did experience this issue with the guitar polish, I've got a "rocket-ship tub" of the fretboard conditioner that's over a year old (might be over two-years old!) and have no problem with them drying out. The oil content is plenty high.

I thought the wipes really changed the color of my rosewood board on the Bongo. Really darkened it down. So, I stick with the simple lemon oil for fret board care.

We have the same issue with same type of dispensers at work (alcohol and Skysol wipes).

I use EB W.Wipes for both neck sides (maple FB) of my Sterling and think it's a great product!

First impression is that wood is darker, but after few days when all stuff dry out there's just slight darkness visible, ...barely visible!

Of course, for a years of treatment there's no doubt, maple will be darker for sure anyway, I mean more yellow than white!

P.S. ...I use it also for my son's Squier Strat's RW FB, ...it gives a good result too!

You can also put the plastic wrap under thje black top, put the container in a zip lock and your good to go. I use the WW's on a regular basis and this method keeps them rather fresh. Great product, board, neck, strings.

Wonder wipes

I used the wonder wipes on my taylor 714ce. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I ruined the rosewood fretboard...every time i slide it makes the squeaky noise like 10x louder than it usually does since i used them. And it definetly changed the color of the fretboard. And the fretboard is very moist. I only used one wipe. Are wonder wipes not the thing you wanna be rubbing rosewood with? Will it eventually dry out and stop squeaking?
