Question Wonder Wipes - How frequently???

OK, board, TOTAL "newbie" question, but you all SEEM to be a helpful/considerate crew, so here goes:

What are your opinions about a realistic frequency for string cleaning on a bass that's currently being used for practice only??? (Low humidity/low sweat environment in Southern California...)

Did a little homework at MF.com, and several expressed opinions about cloth residuals that miight accumulate - any "tricks of the trade" to eliminate/reduce those? (Or remove them if they happen regardless?)

I use them almost every time I put my bass in the case after playing and they really do help with string life.

It's true...some "cloth residuals" can occur, but I have discovered a wonderful technique for preventing "accumulation". I squeeze the residuals between my thumb and forefinger, pull and release...then repeat as necessary.:D
 
String Residuals have been cured! We've switched to a newly formulated towel that does not leave any wipe material.
 
Thanks! I new you had to clean 'em occasionally, but wasn't aware that it should be quite so frequently...

I noticed that strings last 4-6 months if I religiously wiped them every time after playing.
When I don't wipe them? Strings are toast after 1-2 months.

Wipe them after every time you play. With expensive WW or even with something cheaper if you have to.
