Impulse buy alert!

Picked up a 4 string HH SR today at GC for a decent price. I had to have it, because I need a four for teaching, and remarkably, it wasn't dinged up! Need to do my standard lowering of the bridge saddles a half turn and a quick truss rod tweak. Sounds simply stunning. So, I think this puts my SR5 HH dream on hold for a while, especially since my current SR5 sounds so stellar, there's no massive reason for a change.

I'll post pix later. I wasn't sure what finish it even was, but looking at the ever so helpful Finishes sticky in this forum, I believe it's Sapphire Black. It's rosewood with a moonstone pickguard.

Congrats. Thats the color scheme every GC got for the SR4, i believe, so I played one just like yours. The sr5 HH is great, but I would keep the SR5 you have, since you just got this bass. I actually find myself using position 1 lately, which is just like your SR5. Something about that classic stingray tone. Sure the extra neck pup is nice, but that tone..that tone.. its the tone in my head.

So you went early to the Glenn Burnie store. You beat me. ;)

Congrats!

Actually, I'm waffling between the SR5 HH and the SR4 HH.

Well, you can buy it now. I actually returned it. Just a warning...The E string is dead...it may be old junked strings, so you might want to check it out. Also, there's a very slight nick in the back edge of the headstock that I didn't notice in the store. Anyway, it's not a bad bass...just didn't wow me like I was hoping, and the discount wasn't huge. So, I'm probably going to buy another one, but in a finish of my choosing. I will say it plays amazingly now...I lowered the saddles half a turn and tightened the truss rod one spoke. It has awesome action at this point.

You hit on the biggest problem with GC, the instruments get beat up if you don't grab one just as it hits the store. I'm really leaning towards a HH SR5 even though I already have a regular SR5. They have one at the Towson store and it hasn't been there very long.
