ok ... first off thanks to steve for posting some pics for me. we had a power outage today and instead of coming home to a dark apartment i went over to reets place for dinner etc and jsut got home

so here's a few quick (and bad) pics that I took.

From left to right ... that's: Joey, Rachel and Evangeline :)
yes, they all have names

the pics are bad ... sorry. its been a long day. ill try doin some nice shots when my HS Sterling gets here (should be pretty soon).

So i didnt get home till 11pm and I havent had a chance to properly play this bad boy at a decent volume. I'll do that when I wake up ... i get up at like 10am, so all my neighbors should be at work :)

the finish and all the work on the bass is obviously flawless. not a single problem; its perfect; pretty much what i expected. I like to play with really, really low action and, since Dudley is a genious, i just turned a wheel and a couple screws and voila, it plays how i like it ... i love that i can get a quick tweak done in literally 45 seconds. brilliant!!!

so the color is rad, i love it ... but it was kindof a shock to see trans gold w/ tort in real life. LoL. its not ugly or anything but it was a shock. i love the trans gold a lot but i dunno if the torts gonna stay or not. we'll see if it grows on me.

im liking having an SR4 again. the difference in the neck profile doesnt bother me since ive had one before. but really, i think the neck and string spacing on an SR4 make slapping super comfortable. Im very much at home with a Sterling but on an SR4 slap/pop etc is just super comfy ...

speaking of slap n pop .... so, i was really wondering if having the extra pup around was gonan screw me up when digging in for popping but somehow, to me, its jsut transparent. maybe its my hand position but the PUP doesnt get in my way at all. im pretty stoked about that.

so i should talk a bit about the pup selector positions. I'll have more on this tomorrow (and maybe some sound clips if im not lazy). Anywho ... all the positions are good. I expected that at least one of them would make me think "eh, thats not for me" but no. I quickly switched around a bit and they all sounded great, and this is a dumb word, but they were all "usefull". I literally messed around for 3 minutes but in that time frame i could pin point a few songs where i thought "huh ... this would sound good when we're doing the xxxx part of yyy song". So, im looking forward to exploring all these new options in depth tomorrow when the neighbors are either awake or not home :)

The HH SR4 is a pretty sweet bass .... thanks to everyone involved in getting this into my hands :)

I will be happy to fly over and lick your bass for the cost of airfare. I met the UK Distributors at NAMM when BP introduced me...great guys at Strings & Things!!

Well if I had the cash dude.......love to host you for a day or so - kick back with a good whisky and box of cigars.

Yeah the Strings and Things blokes are some of the best. I ordered my bass kit through my drummer's shop (a tiny one room place in a town called Bury St Edmunds) and it looks like now he will have the first SR5 HS in the UK - a good scoop for him really....and me:)

Congratulations, Mister Duck. That is a really pretty bass.

And thank you for continuing to give us the business even though you know us!

Looking forward to some samples, maybe something like the maple/rosewood comparison?

maybe, we'll see how I feel when I get home tonight. I think the most likely thing would be just one long MP3 of me screwing around and not trying to play anything cool on purpose .... something like that with a list of what time chunks on the MP3 are which PUP position.
