Help! "worn off" flamed maple neck?

I just noticed that the lower part of the neck is not as "flamed" as the rest of the neck. Unfortunately I don't remember if the guitar looked like this since the beginning or if it's wearing off from playing.

What do you think?

Flame does not wear from playing, it's in the grain of the wood. On unfinished necks it can accentuate with time as your natural hand oils get into the wood.

It probably has looked like that all along. Since wood is naturally occurring, the patterns are not consistent throughout the whole piece.

What the people above said. In addition, this is a lacquered neck, so the flame maple cannot be altered.
