Just kidding... Like I said, the sound isn't bad, but the overall experience with a low end Ibanez was very bad, due to everything falling off and electronics getting fried.

But... I think that bovine is thinking about when he refers to the Tic-Tac sound is ol' Fieldy of koRn. I hardly got that sound from the SR300 DX. I got more of a muddy bassy sound with really weird sounding highs.

no offence to anyone here, because you all seem to hate feildy...but feildy was one of the main reasons why i started to play bass....i thought that what he was doing was so different and strange, and he didnt have the sound off all the typical grunge bass platers of that time...

i mean looking back it now, his playing wasnt the sharpest, but what he did was realy different and i aplod him for doing that...

The 80's neck through Musicians (like Sting played) were great basses, as were most basses Ibanez made in the 70's.

That was true for me, even though it was just a while. Indeed Fieldy's sound was very, VERY unique amongst all the bass players today. However, after trying to get his sound for a few weeks, I discovered Flea and his Red Hot Chili Pepper. And it's been history since then.

I'd have to say Fender. I've owned 3 in the past and never liked the sound or action so I sold them.

The quality varies from instrument to instrument, including the American made ones. I can show you very noticeable flaws in 3 if the Fender basses in a Guitar Center near where I live. Things such nut slots not spaced properly. I also think their rosewood fingerboards look dried up and ready to fray apart on the new basses. And most of them are horribly set up and not ready to play comfortably.

i guess i have to agree. the only fenders that i like are american made or the active jazz from Mexico. thats a pretty good one.

I have a mid 90's Fender Jazz that was made in Japan and it sounds Damn good !

yea they are very different from one to another. me and my friend both have squier standard p-basses. i set mine and his up. and his is still a tottaly different animal. they barely look the same, and theyre the same color. maybe its cuz theyre squiers but still. they are extremely different for being the same model.
