Would EBMM make a fretless petrucci model with the normal dot inlays so a customer could send the neck to the guys at True Temperment and have that procedure done? 'cause if they would that'd be pretty awesome. BTW, doesn't the JP6 have a compensated nut, and does that help with the lower register intonation?

Didn't you know?

All the JP guitars are fretless up until the point where you open the box for the first time, then BAM! they appear just as you get it in view.

:D

In all seriousness, I can't see that happening as EB only sells the necks as direct replacements, spec'd exactly as the one you give them back. And yes, the JP does have a compensated nut as do all new non-locking tremolo EB models. Even the fretted basses have the compensated nut. It does help in the lower registers.

D@mn, when you have to get the whole fretboard replaced the cost goes up to around 1400-1600 hundred bucks. And I could have a 6 and a 7 JP for the price of a guitar + that.

I don't care how well it intonates. The True Temperment necks just look weird and ridiculous. I like my frets straight.

It may look ridiculous but close voiced chords sound in much better tune. And the 'normal' temperment one feels exactly the same to play on as a regular guitar. I guess with the compensated nut the intonation isn't that big of a deal. Regarding the expensive comment, yeah, just a basic warmoth blank with the system is 750, it's about 500 if you send a neck with an uncut fretboard(none of this includes shipping to norway) and to get a new piece of rosewood, inlay and recut and glue it on it can be from 1400-1700 depending on the number of frets. Besides, I'm not good enough to need it anyway(yet, hopefully). I think that Vai is the only person who really needs those close voiced chords in tune in the rock field.
