As I don't have unlimited resources, nor unlimited storage facilities, I am indeed waiting for the "right" ltd ed for my last Bongo. Of course, it is also a good way to talk myself out of buying another bass at any given moment. :D

When it does, I'll be ordering a Single H Bongo 5 string.

This year's ltds were too similar to the ones I already own. The Stealth was too close to my Sapphire Black, and the Buttercream was too similar to Moby, the White Whale.

So, I wait for that limited edition that calls to me. And, like adouglas, if a mahogany Bongo were announced tonight, I would be sending Dude a deposit....well--tonight.

As it stands, though, I wait.

You know any time you make it up to Seattle you're welcome to play every single one Jack. I'm not sure we have a lot of vodka in the house though...

Just so you know, I'm the one. Never been much for LE anything as it seems more hype than anything. It'd have to be an unbelievable option for me to consider, and generally, I'm not too flashy. I ordered my Bongo in black and my Sterling HH in trans teal. That's all I need. Well, okay, I do need my SR5 and SR4, but I bought those used.

Over in another thread, DOOP wants to refin his orange Bongo, which is his b/c even tho he doesn't like orange it was bumped out at "a steal". Maybe he payed $921 for it, like I did for my orange Bongo, from a GC clearance sale. That's my idea of a Ltd. Edition: There's only so many $921 Orange Bongos in the GC system, and they have that magical "right" element, a color that left them on the wall til the corporate policy reduced them to loss-leader prices. So, there's the case where the "right" Ltd Ed made me jump [and DOOP, too, it seems].

The right limited edition would make me order today. A mahogany Bongo would do it, as would a Bongo with rosewood neck like the one at the Open House. I don't have unlimited resources, and the gear I already own is way more than I'll ever need, but certain basses just make me covet them. It's not like they do something that my current basses don't do, they just look cooler doing it. If I placed the order, then I'd have to figure out what to sell to pay for it, but that's a nice problem to have.

graphite necks

The rosewood neck would be great, but a fretless status graphite neck could be
an option for a LTD model. An SR4 HSC with a graphite neck would be the S%&t.

Well, I didn't think it could happen. But the unbelievable occurred. As the limited Buttercream run was coming to an end, the dual pickup basses were announced. Then, as I was contemplating these events on my back porch, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn formed a nearly straight line in the western sky. Now, how often does THAT happen? Out came the check book.

OK. This isn't exactly what happened, but you get the idea.

Already planning for a 2007 LTD purchase...

I'd like to say that time will tell if I can hold out that long, but in reality it's my wallet that has pretty much settled this issue!

Hell, I've got a Stealth Black Bongo that's no longer being made in that finish (don't you dare mention Rustoleum Flat Black!), so I guess that counts as my LTD EBMM bass.

Last time I checked, The Stealth Bongo was not a LTD Ed bass and is still available for ordering. Sooo..try again! :p :p

Unless #1 Black on the MM color chart counts as Stealth Black, what's available out there is the last o' the bunch! :D

All I know is that when EBMM unveiled the Buttercream L.E. and Stealth Bongo that this topic was discussed. At that time, Stealth was not a L.E. but an option that would extend past 2005 and into the future for however long the factory decided to make them or however long people continued to order them. Maybe I missed something but I haven't seen anything on here to make me think something has changed.

Some information such as the color chart and whatnot is not updated on the site. For instance, if you notice, according to the website their are no lefthanded Bongos or dual pickup Stingrays, Sterlings or SR5's. And AFAIK, Stealth Bongos are available.

The peanut gallery is correct - Stealth is still available. It still makes me smile that there is no upcharge for that option.

And I really kind of want one.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what's new in 2006.

the keep your hats on,

Jack
