I think a barebones Silo hardtail in a plain color is within that price range.

For us in the US, you are correct. However, for our Euro friends there are several import taxes and other costs involved... I've said too much...

Leaving out my lefthandedness....which make things a little more complicated....I think one could order a UK SS for about the same price as a Fender Deluxe Strat.....personally (& I own both) I think the specifications are very similar....the SS does not have the switching options of the Fender....but I find most of them to be of no use whatsoever to me! The only big difference would be in resale values due to fashion....the Fender would hold its value better.
My personal opinion is that there is room for an entry level US guitar......but remember we used to have them & they were obviously not a winner for the company. In the end Mr Ball knows his business much better than we do.

Would there be any interest is a Ball priced at a similar price point to a guitar company as mentionabove - £800-1600 or so - 800 being a raw basic (andy I did in $'s to try to make it easier....)
Interest among whom? Among fans of EBMM guitars? Absolutely. Interest from BP and EB management? Less so.

The SUB was a nice guitar but didn't sell all that great and I suspect the margins were slim as well. As a result, it seems they're looking more to SBMM to hit that price point.
