To put a final answer on the question the OP posted, I did a gig NYE where: 1) we started with a smooth jazz set for the dinner crowd; 2) did our usual soul/blues act up until midnight; and 3) did disco cheese after the ball dropped for the merry revelers. Pretty versatile axe if you ax me. :)

Could someone help me with what is the correct string gauge for the Floyd rose Y2D?

Web site says its 10-42. The ones in have on the guitar right now seem lighter, especially the high E,B,G strings.
The action is almost too low. Maybe they changed strings at the shop with the lighter ones? Also, by using floyd rose it gets out of tune quite fast and constant adjustment is needed. I did lock the top part firmly though ...

What strings do you guys use?
Thnx!

i use only regular slinkys 10-46 on my balls, and it feels fine for me.
bought a set of slinky top and heavy bottom 10-52 strings the other day. i set it up on a jackson RR-5 and it´s cool.
gives you more low-end punch, but i´m not sure if i could play those string on a 4 hours gig. it´s quite heavy to play - maybe i get used to it in a few weeks....we´ll see. :)

Did you have to readjust the bridge? If i put heavier strings then what is set up on my Strat the bridge gets pulled up and string action gets higher.
