Y2D bridge pickup swap?

Anyone ever change their bridge pickup in the Steve Morse models? Mine sounds okay, but just a little bright. I've always preferred brighter neck pickups mixed with a warmer bridge. Don't really want to change the neck, though. Just thinking of something a little bit darker/warmer with less treble in the bridge.

Any ideas on what will match up well with the Morse neck and the standard 250k pots in there? A DiMarzio Breed or Fortitude look like they might work well. Suggestions welcome from Duncan or other manufacturers, too. Thanks. Pic for attention!

How do the pearlys match up to the stocks? Ive got a brf morse that fedex beat up pretty bad so it went from wall hanger to number 1… the dimarzios sound incredible in my darklord but very harsh in the bfr hoping this might tame that

The Pearly Gates were less harsh and nasal and more… smooth? Sorry, not being a native speaker it’s difficult to find the right adjectives :)
Let’s say more traditional sounds, almost Les Paul-ish.

Just an idea: On the web I often see that the Pickups on Morse guitars are set rather high.
They are designed for a lower setting. Steve Morse himself has his own set very low, at about the height of the the bottom end of the Rosewood fretboard.
Maybe a low setting will make the bridge PU sound less harsh

edit: after I read the whole thread: If I were you, I´d just try the lower setting, because it costs nothing. But I have to admit that the Bridge PU has a decent amount of output and is not really like a vintage Humbucker. So maybe you are really into something else. But the Neck PU in my poinion is one of the best sounding neck Humbuckers and it does not have that much output. It has a vintagey vibe!

I do love the higher output of the bridge pickup, and also love the sound of the neck pickup. I could lower the bridge a little and see, but I've got them pretty well balanced at the moment. I'll try lowering it a little and see what I come up with. Thanks.
 
Man, I've been down that rabbit hole so many times, though I was looking for something different (brighter bridge and neck).

The suggestion of lowering the bridge pickup is a really good one- that should take some of the edge off.

I actually did just that yesterday before i read this … i changer out the rubber spacers for springs and drove myself crazy getting it just right … dropped all of them on both morse’s and it smoothed right out. Thanks guys
