I like the cream and purple ideas, not much a fan of the straight black pickups on that guitar... maybe because of the awesome clear pickguard? But hey, whatever comes out of the factory is cool by me :p

Yes
The pickups are purple with a gold script signature. The Tobacco burst is still in question but it may feature all black pickups.

I'd like to see one in person - my monitor just does not do that guitar justice. Hopefully, I'll see one in the flesh before the end of the year - then I'll decide what I'm ordering next - the pickups will look very different in purple - could be good :)

I know this was asked before but, is this guitar a limited run or is it going to be a standard offering?
If it's standard, what will happen with the older model? Will both be offered? Same colour options?
Just wondering.

*drooling uncontrolably*

If I promise to wash my hands, will you let me try one?

You can even laugh at my playing (for lack of a better word)

Fog,

This is not a limited run. After 2 decades we decided to offer an additional guitar to compliment his first signature and for you guitar aficionados. The Y2d is a culmination and celebration of 20 years with Mr Steve Morse. This new guitar is an update on the evolution of Steve's specifications.

The original Steve Morse model will remain in the MM line as is.

Steve wanted the pickguard because without it, the extra distance from where his fingers would rest on the body didn't feel right to him

I think that I like the cream pickups better or at least black. The purple pickups just seem a corny to me (sorry fellas).

Without out getting into details, and this may have been asked before, but will the price be comparable to what an original or pre-Y2D Morse costs, or (and I imagine it will but I am praying it won't) will it be more? Thanks!

This quote is from the EB site:

Current list price including case will be $2,095 (standard bridge) and $2,245 with tremelo. The original Steve Morse model will still be available at the current retail of $1,765 (standard) and $1,915 (tremelo) .

Cheers

I prefer red bobbins, only half the guitar bound, a kahler trem, bill lawrence pickups, roland synth built in, sea foam green paint, grover imperial tuning keys, planet wave tuners, diamond plate pickguard, rotary switches, no volume control just tone...other wise I think steve did a pretty good job with HIS new guitar.

Speaking of which...how about a Sea Foam Green finish? Oh and I like Mr. Jim's tuners as well....since I'm lazy and they cut the slack off for me...hahahaha!
