Hey! I love Kahler tremolos! Too bad he lost out on the patent thing with Floyd Rose. I still have a Kahler tremolo.. on my F#nd@r P-Bass of all places!

Hey, you never know when you need simultaneous guitar & bass dive-bombs...

Steve...I just had a few of Dave LaRue's basses in the shop, and one of them has a trem system. A Bongo, and I think it's a Hipshot trem. We also built a SUB Sterling with a trem for Jennifer Young (Travis Larson Band..Check them out!www.travislarsonband.com

Speaking of Kahler tremelos, do they still make them?

Colin, I'm not sure, but I've seen them on EvilBay, do a search by "SPYDER" if you are interested.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

Colin,

It is my understanding that Gary Kahler had to stop making his tremolo systems when Floyd Rose beat him in court. (Saying that Floyd owned the patent for the idea.)

So, if there *is* a Kahler trem still being made, it's probably licensed from Floyd Rose! But I haven't seen a new once since the 1980s.

You can now get Kahler bridges again. Details at http://www.kahlerusa.com/

As for the SM-Y2D, it's a great looking guitar and it sounds good too. I'm looking forward to trying one out as I do have a few pennies saved up that need throwing in the direction of a new guitar.

Brian/Derek/Jon/BP, what's the deal with the new pickup switching on it?

Yeah, does it split the neck hum and add the middle single on position #4.

BTW I love the black pickups on the early protos, but the cream pickups with the cream binding looked snazzy. Really nicely matched.

You're sooo right Big Poppa ... we're so lame! Doesn't take us much to get bitching about what we want!

What we all have in common is a deep love for these guitars, and a real appreciation of your hard work and the down to earth nature of all the EB staffers.

Myself ... I can hardly wait for the Y2D ... :D :D :D

Bright red like Rad Red or more of an earth tone?
Didn't you want the seafoam green paint to be sparkly (and rare)?
Should the roland synth be the mag type or get it's signal from the piezo?
Will the kahler have the hurst whammy bar?
Planet wave tuners? No, No, No, No, No!!! That's just WRONG!
Get rid of the tone knob too! It's just in the way. What does it do again?
What are the specs on the Diamond Plate Pickguard? That's so crucial.
Binding on half? YES!! Wait a minute,... which half? This could be a deal breaker.
Grover Shmover.
What about a cup holder? You know one that holds the really big mugs. A person get's thirsty you know. Bet you didn't think about that.
What about any ethnic group that might take offense? I smell political incorrectness here.
You do want a seperate Split coil, series/parallel, phase, activation, and mid boost switches for every pickup. I love switches. Need! don't you understand NEED! If you don't put all of these switches on the guitar I will whine and scream until one of us has a stroke. Why won't you listen to me!!!!!!!!!
Will the software be compatiable on all "popular" computer platforms?
We had better see the prototypes pictures now.
Who axed ya what you wanted?
What makes teflon stick to the pan? (kbaim wanted to know that one)

Oh yeah,
Steve did OK too.

That particular guitar is a Artist Loaner piece from 2001. Its features a floyd and the discontinued Silver Sparkle finish. it may have come from the Namm show and
was scratched up a bit.......
