Cream.

What do you all think?

The White Ice that came with my new Bongo is nice and all, but I'm not a huge fan of white. I did a swap for black with TPB, and I think that'll look good once it arrives. But cream would complement that deep, sparkly red so beautifully.....

I had a creamy guard on a red bass once. A Fender Jazz, and it looked really good.

But I also like abalone a lot on red, as if you didn't know that.

Not sure about cream, but VWP might be nice. It's in the neighborhood.

VWP, man, you won't regret it. None of the pics I saw really quite capture the look. It looks SUPER (on my Orange Firemmist SR4), and I'm sure it would look great on your Candy Red.

So how "vintage" is EBMM VWP?

I'm just not a fan of stark white. I thought that there was only one white pearl, and it's very white indeed.

That's exactly what I like so much about VWP. It's not stark white, it's very creamy. You've seen the "swatch" or whatever on the EBMM site, right? You can really see there's a significant difference when you switch back/forth between VWP and WP. It is very rich looking.

I'll see if I can take a hi-fi pic of it. Even the TPB pics, though the best I've seen in general, don't quite capture it, though of course they capture the body color very well. In fact, the VWP looks so different in person, I was wondering if maybe my Orange Firemist SR4 had a "regular" WP pg on it at the time the TPB pics were taken.

Hey ad,

This was my fist Stingray which I loved and still miss. The color combo was perfect, imo.

Anybody got a source for VWP pickguards?

Also..anyone know if any of the makers will send you color chips so you can actually see what you're getting (I emailed Pickguard Heaven but haven't gotten a reply yet)?

VWP is an EBMM color choice. The difference is more comparable on the MM site.

Here's one of my OFM SR that I think shows the character of the VWP pg pretty well ... not 100% accurate, but pretty close.
If you open 2 browser instances of this page & resize them so that you can put this pic side by side with the pic of tbone's SR with the
white pearl pg above, you can really see the difference.

Abalone is prime on Candy Red...

Though I'll admit, I am considering swapping in a White Pearloid for the Christmas season!

Well, the more I consider it the more I think that plain black is the way to go. We'll just have to see how it looks once the guard gets here.

30ths aren't Candy Red, but the shade isn't that far off...and they look killer with black guards. I mean, seriously. Check it out.
