Not a huge fan of stark white, though I can see the appeal. That Ray is a dead ringer for the original prototype.

And while I can also understand the urge to see even more of that beautiful EBMM paint job, to me the shape of the pickguard is a really important part of the overall look, especially on the Bongo.

From an aesthetic design standpoint, the Bongo is all about complementary curves. The curve of the lower bout is similar to, but different from, the pickguard. The curve of the knobs is likewise similar but not identical. And the upper horn. And the headstock, with its non-parallel sides and accent line.

If you took the knobs on a Bongo and did the unimaginative thing, putting them in a diamond shape, it wouldn't look as good.

If you gave the Bongo a straight-edged pickguard or one the exactly followed the body shape, it wouldn't look as good.

The whole thing is lovely curves that relate to and reinforce one another while remaining distinct. There are no parallel or straight lines anywhere except on the fretboard and in the hardware. I think it's effin' beautiful.

I've had great success with Jeannie Pickguards, if they don't have a template you can send a pickguard which worked well for me, they were fast also. Rick

Anybody got a source for VWP pickguards?

Also..anyone know if any of the makers will send you color chips so you can actually see what you're getting (I emailed Pickguard Heaven but haven't gotten a reply yet)?
