You know what's funny?

What's sticking-out in big flashing neon lights is Joshua's comments above re: ingorance.

Please realize that the particular trait noted in the above quote is hardly limited to TB. You can find it everywhere. My point was that the folks that are badmouthing the Bongo aren't bad by definition, more likely "misdirected".

:D

Notice also that (at least on TB) the majority that naysay the Bongo's looks do not own boutique instruments. Most are actually newbies that would be lucky to even own such a high quality instrument.

Look, there is good and bad on every message board. Paul busts his hump to keep the awesome resource that is TB running, and I've got nothing but love for him.

I like TB, and I like it here. If y'all want to join me once in a while over at TB, everyone has an open invite. If you don't want to hang there, I'll catch ya here!

like sands thru the hour glass so are the days of talk bass

due to all the badness ive heard here i never visit that forum. i think i have signed up tho

I just renewed my TB membership. There is some good info over there and it's a great place to buy and sell basses and bass related merchandise. I posted 3 things for sale yesterday and 2 of them were sold within 30 minutes.

Yep - understood and agreed! :)

And I still blame their parents... ;)

well, there could be atleast a new Bongo appreciator by morning. I'm just at the end of playing a conference here at home and the other worship team that we're trading off with is led by a guy named Don Potter, his bassist is Gary Lunn(big Nashville session cat) anywho, Gary's Tyler 5 started acting up on him tonight so he used my Bongo and will be using it again tomorrow morning, preliminary comments were "it sounds alot like the Tyler".... :D

yes, the Bongo revolution...." one player at a time sweet Jesus..." oops , slid into Gaither mode there for a minute :p

Hey guys
I appreciate your passion in defending the Bongo and it's appearance. Let it go.....
I knew that a lot of people wouldn't get it. If you don't respond it eventually goes away.
What is important is there is another option available to bassists, period.

we can bask in the uniqueness and glory over here.

thanks again

Big Poppa

I think the Bongo's look great. At first I thought it looked cool, but couldn't see myself owning one.. But now I think its time for one.

I've always thought it was rude to insult another man's wife or instrument. I try to let it go, but I'm from the South.

I knew that a lot of people wouldn't get it.

Another great t-shirt idea!

Thanks for keeping it in perspective for us, Boss.

Not much different in Brooklyn! ;)

Excellent point re: letting it go - without the reaction it just kinda ends,

That being said, if they lay a hand on you there's a completely different rule...

"The first one who gives up is the clever one" (bad translation of a french adage) : why trying to answer to those sh***eads ? They're only waiting for your response to feed their jealousy or whatever it is, knowing you read their bull**** and felt sad about it.
Do like me : don't go on TB or wathever forum where people disconsidere you (I don't have enough time to spend on EB forum or to register on the dudepit, so I won't loose the few I have trying to convince some people hiding behind their computer that the bass I play is worth their). Be proud of what you play, take pleasure of it and speek with people who are openminded and don't judge you on your bass's brand but try to exchange some ideas, feelings, stories with you.

I think you guys need to just chill.

The Bongo is a radically different looking instrument. That means people are gonna love it or hate it, there are going to be people calling it weird. If you're worried about what other people will think, buy a Fender.

Its like people getting their faces and whatnot pierced and get all angry when people stare. You know you're going out on a limb when you make the decision to do something out of the ordinary, accept the inevitable consequences of that type of decision. Make sure you're right, and the advantages outweight the stares and ridicule.

People made fun of Columbus, what an idiot, he thinks the world is flat!!!

If you're so sure you're right about the Bongo, who cares what the unenlightened, unwashed masses think? Really... Why do you care?
