I play around the house using a Cafe Walter headphone amp and a set of Sennheiser HD-280 Pro phones. The 280's can darken the sound some, but they work well overall and the sound is pretty darned good.

Today I got a new set of phones: Etymotic Research ER-6i ear canal phones. Oh my. Clear, punchy, in your face. And them little bitty drivers didn't give up on the B string. Insertion is a bear at first and they are going to take some getting used to, but dayum!

I use the ER-6i with my iPod too. When properly inserted and aligned I swear I can hear Myung louder than the rest of DT on Train of Thought  They should make a terrific monitor for a bass.
