Hi all,
I have decided (finally :)) to buy a new Axis Super Sport, but there is one thing I´m not sure of and that is whether to order maple or rosewood neck. Your opinion...pros and cons?
Thanks,
odur

I have an all rosewood neck and a maple for my ASS piezo. I have a preference for the all RW but the maple I have on my Axis Sport is just to die for.

just my opinion and that's the only advice I can give, if you take a maple neck then no matching headstock if you take a rosewood one then matching :)

the rest is totally you call and maybe depends on the color you will chose

What finish are you planning to get? I can get along with both, so the match with the body would be the factor I would take into account.

I favor rosewood. I guess because all my guitars and basses have rosewood. I just prefer the feel of the rosewood vice maple.

It's a matter of preference and taste. I always go for rosewood, but one of these days I'll get a full maple neck...ideally roasted :D.

I have one of each on my Super Sports....the maple neck lends itself to a slightly brighter punchier tone and I've found the rosewood to be just as sonically pleasing yet a little warmer. If I bought another Super Sport...I'm leaning towards getting another rosewood. It's really all about your personal taste.

For me it would depend on the color of the guitar. If I closed my eyes I probably could not tell that much difference between maple or rosewood both feel and tonally. Remember if you sweat a lot the maple will look dirty pretty quickly unless you keep it clean. Not an issue for most of us but I do know some players that it just drove nuts. Of course the best way is to simple play both if you can before you buy......good luck!

My favorite is ebony, but for this purpose I would go with rosewood. Sounds warmer where as maple sounds brighter.

Thanks guys for your replys, I have decided to go with rosewood. Partly because the colour of the guitar will be Vintage sunburst and the other reason is that I have always preferred the warm tone rosewood gives.
Vly: my SSS Silo has mape neck and HSS has rosewood.
Thanks again and Happy holydays!

Doesn't really matter. Whichever one you buy is gonna be awesome; so much so that you'll buy the other just to have one of each. So, which one do you want first? That is the question..........
