Apologies if this has been done many times before but....

If you could spec your ideal (right now at least) Musicman guitar, what would it be?

Here's mine for starters:

Luke III body size and Rosewood neck but with a bound board.
Mahogany or Limba body with quilted maple cap.
Ocean blue burst finish (quite deep).
Medium Jumbo fretwire.
MM Vintage Trem.
Passive pickups from Bare Knuckle or haussel.

Cheers!

Just picked up my first, though my wife is hiding it away until Christmas.

A Luke III HSS. Was looking for something that was a departure from what I usually play.

I'm very picky but I was instantly won over by the sound, playability and obvious build quality. Was hugely refreshing to play a "factory produced" guitar without flaws in fit and finish :).

I love the Silhouette Special styling and overall proportions and balance, so that's where I'd start. Go with the BFR body wood combo, alder with maple top and mahogany tone block. Maple top should be plain rather than highly figured, classy in it's understatement, perhaps some sort of dark sunburst colour, like the current PDNs, or a transparent dark blue or even a solid dark blue or dark grey pearl finish. Maple neck with Pao Ferro fretboard, 10" radius, stainless steel frets, matching headstock. Standard vintage trem with bent saddles. Pickups HSS, Y2D-style clear pickguard, and the Game Changer.

Call it the "Silhouette Extra".

An ash bodied Silo Special HSS in tobacco burst with a roasted maple neck or a Reflex with a figured maple top in Bahama Blue Burst also with a roasted maple neck.

funny thread, just talked about this yesterday with my wife and i told her, that it would be great to have a x-over between a JP and a Y2D...
the Y2D neck with 24 frets (roasted birdseye maple + ebony board and ss frets) and the body of a JP but with a maple top and of course the piezo tremolo bridge with black hardware and a transblack finish.

I haven't really been posting here lately, but I would really like to chime in on this topic. I begged for stainless frets a while back and bam we got them so I'm more than ecstatic. So I am very grateful that a. someone was listening or b. random luck fufilled my dream. I guess my only other dream guitar would be an axis with a carve top. Maybe next years limited edition :) Honestly, the best limited edition axis IMHO is the rosewood model... the resonance on that guitar is incredible. The funny thing is that at the time it seemed like they didn't really sell that well.

Off-topic question. Are all EBMM guitars now fitted with SS frets? I'm asking in reference to the Luke III really :-?
