So I have had a PAF Pro and EVO2 in my 20th Silo for some time now, and I decided I need something else. The PAF Pro sounds nice in the neck, and the EVO2 has some nice crunch and is great for searing leads as well as for the chugging rhythm. However I took a liking to moderate output pickups thanks to the Air Zone in my Silo Special, which made me want to put a Timmons model in the bridge and either a Air Norton in the neck or the 36th PAF. Just looking for a nice fat but defined tone basically.
Last night I got home and spontaneously decided to put the ORIGINAL pickups back in! I think it was also the PM I got from straycat113 that got me thinking about the pickups...because honestly I completely forgot what they sounded like. I was also inspired by all the recent pictures of the other 20th Silos, HH ALs and 25th guitars with the chrome covers. It just really seems to be the perfect style for the guitar, even though I wanted to stray a bit from the vintage-like look. So I wired em up last night and plugged in for a few minutes, and they just sounded great! I think I will keep em in there for a little while
.
I also wanted to state in general that the 20th Silo works VERY well with different pickups. I did previously also have an Air Norton and Steve's Special in there for a little bit, and that yielded nice tones as well. It's just an overall amazing guitar and feel very lucky to have this one.
I ALSO wanted to say that BP and everyone at EBMM know exactly what works (duhhhh hehehe) for the specific guitars when it comes to pickups right off the bat and everything else for that matter. I love these guitars!
(Hope people enjoy this thread and discuss whatever related the 20th Silo or regular Silos and anything regarding the tone and pickups. To put things sort of on track with everything EBMM on here
)
Of course I must include the pics of what it was and what it is AGAIN (old pic though when it originally came that way
)
