I mainly play five strings, and I have two nice EBMM US Sterlings. But I keep one four string, which has been my Jack Casady for about a year. Nice and light, but a little awkward to play what with the somewhat large body.

So, after months and months of looking at P basses, Aerodynes, and more trying to find a light-weight four string, the search is over. I ended up deciding to look for a really light Fender, but after a while I thought: I'll just go for a EBMM H bass. And I found one. EBMM Sterling 4H, weighs only 7#6oz. Small Sterling body with nice jazz size neck. Perfect! Should get it Friday or Saturday, as long as FedEx doesn't let me down. Here she is (no name yet, but soon).

Ordered some Slinkys and a Hipshot D tuner from Jaslon @ BSO, and a black pearl pick guard from Chandler.

Awesome, congrats on the new addition. That black pearl pick guard should really set it off.

Where did you find one so light?

Got it on Reverb. The seller weighed it for me, so I am trusting him as to the weight. Looks like I won't find out for certain until Saturday. If he was mistaken about the weight, I have a week to return it. But I don't want to even think about that yet.

Also a shout out to five7, I still have the Sterling 5H in gold I got from you a few years ago. It has been a great bass.

So I haven't had a D tuner on a bass in years. I ordered Slinkys with a 100 E. I guess that will work okay with the Hipshot, or should I order a 105 E?

Finally got it today. Love it. Two piece body with beautiful grain. Not sure what year yet, but it's got to be older than my two five strings. No pickup "ramp", EQ center detentes are stiff, control knobs are flatter and different texture. Pickup seems to have more bark to it, sounds a little different.

So she came in at 8.6 pounds. Seller mistaken? Transparent Gold born 3-25-2005. I love the bass but not sure about keeping it. I bought it mainly because it was supposed to weigh 7.6#. At 8.6 it is not much lighter than my 5HS and 5H Sterlings. But it is a sweet bass and a looker.

Put a set of ultralite tuners on it and you will be close to the 7.6 weight. I did that on my bongo, sterling 5 and my sub 5, really helped out.
