A suggestion to Music Man re St Vincent guitar

Before I bought my Starry Night St Vincent, I did some research around the net as to problems, and the main one cited is the slight neck dive. And I will admit, this almost stopped me from buying one, if I hadn't found a place willing to let me return it if I wasn't happy, I might have passed.

Looking at the guitar front on, move the bottom strap button a bit to the right until the balance is achieved. I realize the aesthetic will be slightly off, but better than not selling guitars or having complaints (legitimate) floating around the net.

As a thank you for helping save your rep, I will gladly accept one of the Stealth Black St Vincent ones coming in the spring

EBMM makes guitars to the artists specs, so I think this is exactly how they wanted it to be.

I think that what @kimonostereo wanted to say is that EBMM makes signature guitars 100% to artist specification and requirements and they won't change anything if it works for the artist. St. Vincent doesn't have a problem with balance of her gu, so they won't change anything. Same story with JP model - some people have problem with pickup switch position - they hit it accidentally while playing. It's ok for John, so switch stays where it is

Well I would think she would have the same issue too, but maybe she's just used to it, I wouldnt think moving a strap button would be a big deal.

thanks for your suggestion...Its always hard to make everyone happy...we protyped many positions and this is where Annie Clark wanted it...I use the guitar too and dont notice an issue...different players end up in different positions...

You mean put the strap button on the rear of the guitar, not on the bottom end? I like the sound of that and I might try it. Or do you mean move it to the right by moving it up the bottom edge until it's nearre to the top corner?

I agree that "Annie gets to pick" - it's her guitar, we just get to play it. All good!

IMO, the whole 'neck dive' thing is really over-exaggerated. In addition to my Silhouette guitars I have a Gibson SG which is famous for it's neck dive issues. But to be honest, I really do not find it to be a problem at all. Even if the guitar has a slight 'neck dive', I don't think you are going to notice it while you are playing. Maybe if you like to keep your hands off the guitar to grab the mic stand when you are singing it could move on you, but other than that I don't see how it makes a huge difference.

I mean move the bottom button towards the output jack slightly, that should solve the issue.

It's noticeable, though not as bad as an SG, and such a small thing to fix tbh. The main reason I brought it up is if you look at Musicians Friend and a number of other sites with reviews, this is really the main complaint, and it could stop someone from getting such a great guitar otherwise. I am literally suggesting this to help MM.

As I stated in another reply, just trying to help you guys, the reviews out there show this as really the only complaint (unless they dont like the body shape, but thats a different thing), and those "complaints" can stop potential buyers, it almost did with me and Im sure Im not the only one. Even premier guitar's video, the first one that comes up on youtube for this, mentions it briefly around the 5:25 mark. Just sayin. Love the guitar though, thanks.

When I first started playing my 25th anniversary I was bothered a bit by it's neck dive tendencies. Now I almost never notice it. I think it just one of those things some guitars do.

All things being equal, I'd prefer a balanced guitar, but all things are never equal.

Buy yourself a StV and put the strap buttons wherever you want. That's so easy even a caveman could do it.

But don't get Bhurt if the manufacturer doesn't change an artist model to your specs....

To be fair, I don't think the original poster is bhurt. He's very politely making a suggestion and also likes the guitar.
