For all the Majesty owners out there, can anyone please let me know what a guesstimated amount of battery life they have been getting with regular use of the guitar? I realize that amount is totally subjective but I'm only looking for a best guess.

And also will the tone and sustain drop as the batteries die off or will the pickups basically just stop working at some point?

And lastly, is it better to just toss batteries after a certain amount of use and start with new ones or do you go for maximum use before throwing them away?

Just trying to decide if I need to stock up on Energizers or not.

Thanks to all who respond.

My tip is only use good brand batteries, and yes, replace them after a fixed period. Six months max. The last thing you want is to open the battery cover to find they have leaked.

I don't know about lapse time before they run out. I've always replaced before this happens. The Maj uses three 1.5v AAs whereas other guitars often use 9v batteries. 100 hours is an oft-seen claim for 9v. I'm going to guess that the piezo is where you'll hear low voltage issues first. A weak or fizzy signal.

Thanks guys. Funny you should mention the piezo because the 7th string started crapping out on the piezo yesterday. Just that string, the others were fine. But I took the batteries out and reinserted them plus tipped the trem bar down far and sort of reseated the string on the piezo. Not sure which of these was the real culprit but it stopped the problem either way. I've been playing the hell out of the Majesty and using the boost a lot, so I wonder if I just wore out the batteries.

I'm using Energizers because of the no leak guarantee but I still would be hesitant to leave them in the guitar for an extended amount of time without playing. Am I correct in assuming that the batteries are not engaged unless the cable is plugged in?

No leak guarantee is fine but unless Energizer indemnifies you against damaging the guitar then its technically worthless.

The batteries aren't actively engaged when the cable is not plugged. There will however be very small voltage drain over a long period even if the guitar is not used.

Personally I change mine twice a year regardless how minimal use, but between changes I always watch the lights on the backside when plugging in.

Well you got me there, but like I said I don't fully trust that either. I freely admit that I am rather paranoid about batteries leaking in general. Do you recommend another brand that's better or more reliable?

Good idea, thanks for the suggestion.

No, I would go for Energizer or Duracell. There might be other good brands but those are the two I'd use to minimise risk and they're freely available.

Thanks.

Just bought a 12 pack of Energizers. That should cover me for a day or two hopefully.

+1 for the name branded batteries.

Luckily I didn't learn the lesson with my guitar, but I used to buy Costco branded because they were quite a bit cheaper than the Duracell's you find in the store. I've had maybe 1 or 2 branded battery leaks in my life, and those were very very old. I swear within a year or two, I had maybe 4 or 6 Kirklands leak on me. I guess I'd be okay using them in a kids RC car where they get sucked up and tossed right away, but not for anything else.

Only copper top Duracell's for my guitars. I'm sure Energizer is fine too.
