Hi Joel!
Thank for the info! When you say white, is it recorded as "solid white", "trans white" or are there other whites?
If it´s the "trans white", is that then the same color as "Mary Kaye white"?

55025 - This one comes up as Trans White in the database. There are no notes specifying that it is a Mary Kay in the database and I couldn't find any notes in our archive for the Mary Kay finish. Dan is a good source for that though as he was more involved with the company closer to that time period. Production number records are not available.

It would have came with the crunch lab and liquifire pickups right?

Yes it does, those pickups became standard on the model in June of 2009.

Did this year Stingray have the option of a Sabre neck? Was it standard or was this a custom order? I'm asking for a friend that owns this bass and is looking for some history on it. Thank you

Sounds like an early 1978/79 Pre-Ernie Ball Bass. Ernie Ball doesn't have any records from that era. If it has a "Sabre" logo at the headstock the neck is probably swapped out. Sabre necks are mostly the same as the StingRay, but you could order them with a narrower (jazz-style) neck.

This one isn't coming up in the database. It does appear to be a pre EB serial number as Bert mentioned. Unfortunately the database didn't come around until the late 1980s after Ernie Ball took over the company so we don't have the production records for the pre and early EB instruments unfortunately. If it has the Sabre headstock logo, my guess would be that the neck was swapped out too.
